I know some newborn congestion is normal, but with an older DD sick in the house I'm more observant/worried and my newborn is struggling to breath with what sounds like wet mucas but it is deep and therefore not coming up with a suction bulb. She is sneezing in an effort to get it out (almost like a forced/fake sneeze) and not sure what to do. It's interfering with her sleep :(- anyone have experience with this?

Nosefreida nasal aspirator.....it has been a lifesaver when DS is congested. I bought it after reading it recommended by a poster here.

Breathing trouble.... newborn.... I'd call the doctor, no matter what.

What sounds like a cold to us could be RSV or something serious.

(But I'm one who never hesitates to call or go in.)

:yeahthat: My DD had RSV twice and the second time we were shocked as it seemed nothing but a simple cold.

call the ped, elevate ( sit in bouncy seat but avoid laying flat) saline/bulb syringe and run the humidifier.

Take a temp and call the ped. If the temp is above 100.4, your baby needs to be admitted into the NICU for 2 days (if under 28 days old).
