I don't even have the DS yet...but bought the Littlest Pet Shop Jungle recently from Best Buy and just noticed that the Preowned copy is only $4.99 with free shipping. It's an inexpensive start.
(I figured it was good/cheap enough to link) hth

DD is getting a DS lite and is 5.5. She'll get the Disney Princess Magical Jewels, Crayola Treasure Adventures, and Nintendogs. I think she could play DS1's Mario games as well.

I bought the Disney Princess and Crayola games at Target last week on clearance for $7.50 each. Nitendogs is used and came from Gamestop.

My 5 year old DD has a Nintendo DS and she plays it all the time. She has a bunch of games...let's see what I can remember off the top of my head:

Scoobydoo
Princess and the Frog (requires some help with her reading it though)
Diego and the Safari Rescue
Mario Bros.
Smart Girls: Playhouse (but she doesn't play this one anymore)

On Black Friday TRU was having some DS games on sale for buy 1 get 1 free, and I got her:
Carnival Games (http://www.amazon.com/Carnival-Games-Nintendo-DS/dp/B0016BVY8O/ref=sr_1_34?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1322453404&sr=1-34)
Namco Museum (http://www.amazon.com/Namco-Museum-Nintendo-DS/dp/B000BIZR72/ref=sr_1_7?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1322453526&sr=1-7) (PacMan, etc)
Stitch Jam (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3987716&searchURL=false)
Lego Batman (DH picked this one out...not sure how she will like it)

Cooking Mama is a fantastic game that doesn't require too much reading.
