I am winding down nursing in the next few weeks and will need new bras. I am currently a G/H so I'll probably go down to a DD-D (before I got preggo this time I was a D). Anyhow, here is what I am looking for:
-WIDE band, at least 3 hooks (4 is better)
-underwire
-nice wide comfy straps

If the straps are good for short people that would be great too. I find that most bras I need to have at the shortest possible length and sometimes that's not even short enough....

Any recs? I don't care about cost, if it fits well and is comfy. Another problem is my band size is a 34-36. It's hard to find the larger cup sizes in a 34 (36 is usually doable).

help!

p.s. I have no access to a nordstrom's to be fitted..... but I might make the 90 minute drive in the spring if I get desperate :) .

Love this shop! Follow the directions on the sizing page (http://www.breakoutbras.com/sizing). Send their CS an email with your measurements and ask them which bras they recommend. They know which bras run big and which run small. They are fantastic and I never knew I could get bras to fit so well. Only place I can find with a decent collection of small band sizes and large cups.

They offer free shipping on every order. You do have to pay for return shipping though on returns but I rarely have to do that because they are so accurate with their sizing.

These were my favorite bras before I got pregnant and I am a 34 DD. I bought 3 of them right before I found out I was pregnant

They have straps that don't dig in, and I *think* they have 3 hooks. They look nice and smooth under t-shirts and they were a steal with a Kohls sale and 30% off:

If that link doesn't work they are the Bali One Smooth U Comfort U-Back Full Coverage Bra. The Bali style number is 3470

My favorite brand overall is Wacoal (pre-preg I was 34D, post-DS2 I was 34F), but really, you need to get fitted post nursing. I also find "3 part cup" bras to be more flattering at hoisting the boobs up all the way, rather than molded cup or the stretchy fabric ones, though obviously YMMV. My current favorite is the wacoal "alluring" (http://www.wacoal-america.com/shop/bras/up-to-g-and-h-cup/alluring-full-figure-underwire-bra_855107.html). Have you checked for independent lingerie stores near you?

I have always been a Wacoal fan. I'm a 32DD. I'm currently in love with the Chantelle C Paris tshirt bra. While it doesn't have wide straps they don't dig and it's a very flattering and super comfy bra. I discovered it in a specialty bra shop but bought online off ebay for 1/4 of the price.

I've been loving these Bali Back to Beautiful bras. They are a different style than the one the PP posted but they also come in a 34 DD. I had been wearing very expensive bras and these are comparable/better in support and comfort.
I can pick them up for $15 when kohls is having a sale.

ETA: I'm a 38 DD if it makes a difference. I can't comment on the strap length since I'm on the other side of the spectrum with respect to that.

Oh, yes, Chantelle is great too, though I sized out of my favorite style which is the "tamaris" and only goes to E. I wouldn't worry about the strap length issue - a good bra store can alter that for you easily and it may even be free.
