I'm making brownies for DS and his playdate. I dont' have an 8x8 pan. Can I use a round cake pan? I also have a 9x 13 pan but that will be too big.

Just asking as my last brownie from mix was an absolute disaster...

A 9" round cake pan has approximately the same area as an 8"x8" square pan, so I would think it would be fine to substitute. Just maybe set the timer a couple of minutes shorter and keep an eye on it while baking? (Personally, I like my brownies rather underdone and gooey, so I'd set the timer for several minutes shorter!)

Ok thanks. Hopefully I dont' mess it up this time. I can bake, but brownie mix has me defeated so far.

We use a 9x13 pan for brownies most of the time. We like them thinner. You just have to reduce the cooking time.

My mom always uses a 9x13 pan; the box will have those directions too.

Thanks. I used the round cake pan and they turned out. First time ever.
