DC want to try fruitcake, but all the ones I can find are made with rum. Does anyone know of a fruitcake that doesn't contain any alcohol?

You could always make your own (e.g. http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/patricias_holiday_fruitcake/); I think most of these ones use fruit juice instead of alcohol. If you're in the US, pre-made ones you can buy in the stores are usually alcohol free, right?

The quantity of rum in the whole cake is so small (normally less than 1/4 cup or so for a whole cake) that I'd be fine with giving a child a small slice.

FWIW, I ate plenty of brandy infused fruitcake growing up and never suffered effects from the small amount of alcohol they contained. I understand everyone's comfort level with giving such items to their kids is different however.

I know I've seen pre-made ones at my grocery store that do not contain any alcohol.

Thanks. I'll check the grocery stores. My hope was to get a good one that we would actually like, but William Sonoma and Dean & Deluca both contain alcohol. Does anyone have a brand that they recommend that hasn't been made with alcohol?

The recipe looks great, but unfortunately, I don't have time in the next few weeks.

At the moment we just aren't comfortable giving DC alcohol even in recipes...

Thanks so much.

My family has always ordered from Collin Street Bakery. I don't believe it contains any alcohol: http://www.collinstreet.com/pages/online_bakery_gift/deluxe_fruitcake

ETA: Here are the ingredients, no alcohol listed: https://www.collinstreet.com/pages/fruitcake_questions. Contains HFCS though, if you care about that.
