I'm bumping this for you, because I also need to know - Mario Galaxy "select" is $20. Mario Galaxy is $45. If they're the same game (the description appears to be the same) I'd definitely prefer to spend less!

I want to know, too. My father picked up Mario Galaxy (select) for one of my boys today at Target for $19.

From ZDNet....
Nintendo is also branding four flagship Wii games as “Nintendo Selects” and selling them for $20: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Animal Crossing: City Folk, Mario Super Sluggers and Wii Sports. At this price and for this caliber of game-play, who needs to browse the pre-owned rack at GameStop?
I'd guess Nintendo is doing that with some of the older classic titles to move them. I'd imagine they're no different than their higher priced non-select branded counterparts.

From what I can tell, it's just marketing. They released some titles as 'selects' with a lower price point, but it doesn't say anything about different content.

Awesome, thanks!
And Amazon is currently running a buy 2 or more get 1 at 50% off promotion on the select titles, so I got Mario Galaxy and Paper Mario for $30!
(Along with the Mario Kart K'nex sets I picked up for DH, it's going to be a very Mario Christmas for him this year. Now DD1 wants me to get him a Mario themed shirt, too. LOL!)

My nephew tells me they are classic Game Cube games, reformulated to work with Wii.

Wii Sports was never made for GameCube.

They are the same games just repackaged at a lower price than originally sold for. They tend to be good or popular games.

True true! That will teach me to listen to a 13 year old!
so obvioulsy I'll get the $20 select sports game option. it's not any 'less' than the other sport $40 game? so confusing!
