What do you pay and how often? Our house is about 3000. DH convinced me to have baby 3 by promising cleaning help. (not really the deciding factor;) Anyway, we are on the search for someone. I tried an agency but they charged me $150 to do one bathroom. Really? I mean really? And then she did an ok job, but I think for that kind of money it should have inspired rainbows and angels. Just curious what the rates are around.

My house is about 2000 sqf and I pay $75 each time. They come every other week. They do a good job and a great job for the money I am paying. I used to have another service before but they charged $150 but that was way too much for me.

My house is about 2800 square feet and I pay our house cleaner $20/hour. She comes every other week for 6 hours...so $120 per visit.

Our house is about 3000 sq- 5 bedrooms/3 bathrooms. We have a cleaner that comes every week and we pay her $65. She really only does the basics and is here for about 2.5 hours- she vaccums, dusts, does the bathrooms/kitchen and the floors. If I want her to do anything extra- clean the fridge, do the baseboards, etc- I pay her more.

I found ours on Craigslist. I had several to chose from, and had 3 come out and give me an estimate. Then went with the one I did based on her references and my gut feeling when I met her. When she started with us, we had a 4bed 2.5 bath 2400 sq ft house and we paid $80 every other week. IMO, if you can find a good one, it is SO worth every single penny. But you may have to look around. She is our third one in 4 years.

Our previous house was 4br/3.5ba and about 3200 sqft. (We had a finished attic they didn't do, and I usually didn't have them do the guest room unless someone was coming.) It was $80 every two weeks. I know this was a bargain.

We moved and this house is about 4000 sqft, 4br/3.5 ba. I figured the price would go up. She wanted to go to $120 (!!) but we are trying $100 for now. Couldn't handle a 50% cost increase.

2400 sq feet. We used to have someone come once a month (I did cleaning in between). It was $160 and she was here for 7 hours. My house sparkled like you would not believe.

We have about 3000 ft (3.5 baths) plus 1000 ft (and 1 bath) in the finished basement. The woman who cleans our house comes every other week. She cleans the basement only every other time. $100 per visit.

Our previous house was 3000 ft and we paid $85 every week.

We have an 1,800 sqft townhouse. Our cleaners come twice a month and we pay them $98 each time they come. We use a service rather than a private cleaner which tends to run a little pricier, but issues with my DH's line of work and mine make it necessary for us. They send two women out to clean my house and they stay for about 2.5 to 3 hours. They use all green cleaning products and do a fantastic job. FWIW, we live in a high COL area so I think it is pricier here than elsewhere.

I think the answers will vary based on area and COL. We have about 1700 square feet on the first and second floors, have a cleaner with one helper come every other week, and pay $110 per visit; however, if they also clean our third floor, which has a full set of stairs, bathroom, and large bedroom up there, they charge us $125. She did tell me that part of the reason she charges us $110 is that because we have hardwood in every room except the bathrooms, it takes more time than vacuuming wall-to-wall carpeting would take.
