So hopefully this will help anyone deciding 3G or not. I love my Touch, and got 3G just for international travel thinking I could surf the web on it. Well apparently the touch only allows you to access the Kindle store and Wikipedia via 3G. You need wifi to surf the web. Not worth the extra $50 (or whatever) if you ask me. The Kindle keyboard DOES let you surf the web via 3G. I'm deciding if I want to keep the touch and get one without 3G, or if I want a Kindle keyboard with 3G. Or if I'm too lazy to do anything. ;) Anyway, I hope this makes sense.
