View Full Version : What are you putting in DH's stocking?

I am not coming up with any great ideas this year. I know he likes Reese's pieces, so I always put a big bag of those in there... but I"m coming up blank. Between his birthday, Father's Day and other stuff I feel like I've used up all of my good ideas!

He doesn't wear cologne and rarely uses aftershave. I bought him a large container of the Art of Shaving cream but he's still got a ton of it left.

The only other thing I can come up with is a nice set of tweezers and nail clippers, because he's always borrowing mine and it drives me nuts!

I have some organic wool socks and I think that is it so far! I'd like to get some good hot chocolate and maybe some beef jerky (gag!) because he likes that stuff.

a leatherman, i think...and some dvd's that he'll have to open much later without an audience...so maybe a note about them.

I usually get him an itunes gift card in his stocking and some other random stuff. I haven't even started stocking shopping yet though.

We do stockings only, so my list will eventually be long. So far I'm planning or already have:

Nigel Gearsley diecast from Cars 2
A Moscow Mule copper cup
Sonicare Essence
New slim wallet
Several pair of funky socks from Next Direct
Scharffen-Berger individual chocolates
Homemade shortbread from Etsy
This belt that I'm actually so excited about b/c he will LOVE it-

That is good to hear. I got such a great deal on it ($24) that I was worried it would be unimpressive.

The one I have is the Essence 5300. It's great... and you can even throw replacement heads in his stockings next year :)

Well dh is getting nail clippers for the same reason your dh is. :rotflmao: it's a standard stocking stuffer for him, he usually gets about 5 pairs. (He loses them all well before the next Christmas.)

Lottery tickets
Hot chocolate on a stick from Etsy
Sunglasses (another standard as they get scratched and lost over the year)

Other possibilities:
iTunes gift card
Gloves
Socks
Little liquor bottles
Weird/souvenir pen or pencil
Gum
Chapstick
Hand warmers
Maps
Magazine

There is also a thread in toys about stocking stuffers--it is all ages--so there might be more ideas there.

HTH,

Collar Stays for his shirt
New Handkerchiefs
A few new pairs of dress socks
A magazine
A joke book/puzzle brain teaser book
A Dilbert Desk Calendar
Starbuck Gift Cards
ITunes Gift Cards
Pens
Haribo Gummy Bears

I will also usually put something random in his stocking. This year, I got him one of those little things that you use to push tooth paste up the tube and a little brush to clean between the keys on his computer.

I'm not sure this year. I'm thinking:

Calvin Klein Undershirts
His favorite chocolate/candy
lotto tickets/scratch offs

Not sure what else. I usually find some good ideas from here: http://www.thinkgeek.com/

:hysterical: No way! How do the kids not see them? Going through the stockings is always a big production here.

**** SPOILER ALERT (for my DH, who has post-stalked here in the past...****

... so if you're post-stalking me again, DH, don't read this post or you'll ruin your surprise...

... and sorry to BBB-ers who think this is probably something awesome ...

I ordered these:

http://www.landofnod.com/arts-and-crafts/toys-gifts/a-show-of-hands/f7112

Because he is forever making hand "puppets" for DD and our nieces & nephews, so I thought these would dress up the "puppet" a bit. (There are 3 different kinds - holiday, "monsters" and animals)

Also, he point-blank asked for a harmonica, so I found one online as well.

And then there's the usual - toothbrush, small amount of candy, maybe an orange and possibly a candy cane.

:yeahthat:Stockings are my favorite part. Our stockings are always overflowing because we found so many cool things. I like shopping for them the most and I always find them the most exciting to open. Also, I cross-stitch, so I enjoy making them as well.

honestly the kids don't notice our stockings. Plus, we'd just say they were for daddy.

:yeahthat:

Stuffing stockings is a science I've faithfully carried out since I was 10 years old and had outgrown Santa.

When else am I going to do my OCD count-out of all the candies in a bag of Hershey's miniatures, Hershey's Kisses and Reese's PB Cup Minis so I can make sure that each of us has the exact same number of each color wrapper?

Wait.

Maybe I shouldn't have admitted that on the interwebz. Oh well. There are stranger things out there.

Just be really careful with the Buckyballs around children. There was a recall/alert recently because so many kids were swallowing the magnetic balls and then having serious gastro issues as the balls tried to stick to each other through intestinal tissue. Ouch.

We did stockings today, for St. Nicholas day. I surprised DH with one. Just a couple things:
Cup of Oreo minis
ITunes gift card

Realized though that i cant keep doing stockings just for DCs and DH as DS gets older or he'll wonder why St Nick doesn't like Mommy.

I don't like via hot but I do like it thrown into an iced coffee. In warm weather I blend a little Jay Robb protein powder (vanilla) with via or cold leftover coffee, ice, and a touch of xanthan gum. Sometimes I add a little erythritol as my sweetener. This is my mid afternoon pick me up in warm weather. I totally prefer it to the actual starbucks iced coffees now.

indigo, 'via' is starbucks' instant coffee. it comes in thin packs, sorta like the thin packs of sweeteners, taller than they are wide. it would be a good stuffer - he might like them, he might not, so a good way to get a few & see if they fly.
