DS2 has strep; i didn't expect that to be the diagnosis and was thinking more along the lines of Coxsacki.

However, he has a bad rash and the rash is what sent us to the ped. He started abx last night and the sitter said the rash, this AM around his mouth, does look better than when she saw it yesterday. He has redness in the diaper area, small bumps behind his knees, red bumps/rash around his lips.

I'll call the ped and see if DS1 should be checked as well; I certainly don't want it spreading!

DS2 slept a ton yesterday, slept normally last night and has his usually bubbly personality.

What gives w/ the rash?

When you saw the doctor did he already have the rash?

Rashes are very common with strep -- it's actually what Scarlet Fever is.

Hope he feels better!

Yes, he definitely had the rash when she saw him.

Scarlet fever. It is just a different way strep presents, same treatment. SF sounds scary, and was back in the day. Now with antibiotics highly treatable.
