a bar mitzvah. It is an afternoon party is at a high-end catering place. I found two flattering dresses at Nordstrom:

and

I wanted a dress with sleeves because my arms are mushy mommy arms. The first dress is a little less dressy I think but it is super comfortable. I love the color of the second dress but I think the sleeves are *slightly* matronly. The first dress gives my a long lean look. But it is a little boring. If I were to go with this dress I have absolutely no idea how to accessorize...I wear the same jewlery pieces everyday and would have to go out and get costume jewler. Also, no idea what shoes to wear...metalic? nude? My legs are not my strongest attribute and would probably look better with super high heels, but unfortunately I can't walk in anything over 2 inches (maybe 3) and a definte no to an ankle strap....cuts the line of my legs.

Any opinions and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I personally prefer the first dress - the arms of the second are much more summery. Even though this is day, it is winter so I would do nude hose with a dressy black pump (read, slim heel & toe not chunky). The dress is actually interesting enough imho so you can grab a little clutch (black I would think/guess) and some pretty studs (pearls/diamonds/gold/silver/sparkly/something) and/or bracelet (I have a gold stack I wear all the time that can be dressy or casual so if yours can be fancy stick with them!). Navy blue & black are super chic and a nude leg lightens the look.

And better to be over dressed than under dressed! :) have fun!

I agree entirely with the PP. The first choice is very nice and not too plain at all.

Definitely the first. The 2nd one is too "mother of the bride" or something. You can accessorize it like the model... big chunky necklace, dangly earrings, cuff bracelet, silver strappy shoes.

Love the first one. And I don't think it's boring at all. Beautiful.

I like the first one a lot! Beautiful color. Has a lot of style. I would accessorize either with silver (maybe 2 of 3: necklace, bracelet, dangly earrings) and either silver or navy shoes.

Ann Taylor has some pretty acessories:

This first one is a little fun and different, as it has color:

I like this one too:

And this (though you'd probably have to put in on a shorter chain):

Holiday shopping kinda took over this project for me so I've been distracted, but thank you so much for your replies.

So do you think I'd be OK with silver pumps/...I'm just thinking I might run into trouble with strappy in NY in January?

Also, do you think it would be enough to just do sparkly, dangly earings and some sort of bracelet/s, skipping the necklace?
