I have a 4-year-old and an 18-month old. I can't seem to find those mittens/gloves with string so you don't lose them. Would appreciate leads ...

Thank you!

I bought some at the Hanna Andersson outlet a while back on clearance. We just used them this weekend (don't live in a cold weather place),and they worked well!

I got short elastic clips (elastic strap with clip on either end) at Buy Buy Baby a year or two ago for this same purpose. Don't know if they still have them, though. (And I can't remember if I bought two sets back then or only one, 'cause now I'll need a second, at least by next year...)

Thanks for the replies. I will check both HA and BBB out.

REI has mitten clips too.

We use Mimitens - they stay on better and are harder to lose. :D

I hate to mention... but you could just attach a string. I used to knit, so I have yarn laying around and I think I am going to do that for dd's mittens. Thanks for the idea!

These don't have great reviews on diapers.com, but my friends all swear by them.

I was also going to suggest Zutano mittens... (we LOVE Zutano cozies/fleece!) The infant ones come with strings. They also make toddler sized mittens, too, but they don't come with strings:

But like one of the PPs said, you can easily attach yarns/strings yourself...

Walmart had sets of elastics with clips for about $2 two weeks ago on a rack with infant and toddler mittens and hats. I bought a bunch since they can be hard to find. Now I have some for the next couple of years. They are usually stretched out at the end of the season.

I just bought a pair of mittens I liked and measured the distance from one jacket cuff, up her back, and down the sleeve to the other cuff. I took a heavy-gauge needle, and sewed a piece of yarn that length to each mitten wrist. I bet a ribbon would be even nicer!

ETA: I think the whole modification operation took about 5 minutes, counting measuring and cutting the yarn. It was super easy.
