Have a holiday party with friends from college next weekend. One friend is diagnosed celiac and I'm still trialling a GF diet. There's also a tree nut allergy. I could easily bring shrimp, a veggie tray, fruit tray, etc. However, I'd like to bring something more creative/inspired to show that GF doesn't have to be plain or boring and also because there will be so many other amazing choices that I'll have to skip that I want something exciting to eat.

Ideas?

For appetizer, how about the Pioneer Woman's salsa and corn tortilla chips? Here is the recipe: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2010/01/restaurant-style-salsa/ I've heard about this recipe from this board. It's always a hit for us.

For dessert, I've just made this peppermint fudge tonight and it turned out great! http://www.marthastewart.com/314725/peppermint-fudge (You may have to check chocolate chip packages for tree nut info.)

HTHs.

I love Crunchmaster GF crackers. (I get them at Costco.) Could you pair those with some yummy cheese spreads or toppings? Smoked salmon w/cream cheese, TJ's cranberry goat cheese, TJ's jalepeno cheddar spread, etc.

Bacon wrapped scallops?

I was at a catered party, and they had these super cute tiny plastic forks that had been used to spear a small piece of salmon wrapped around cream cheese.

For dessert, how about a GF flourless chocolate cake/torte?

Oh bacon wrapped scallops. Mmm...that sounds good. I was thinking shrimp platter but DH will go for anything with bacon!

These Bacon-Wrapped Apricots with Sage are easy and awesome, and I think GF...I'm not super-educated on the subject. Does the maple syrup ruin it? I don't think so.

Pioneer Woman's BBQ jalapeno poppers, except without the BBQ sauce. Made these for my GF friend, and she raved:

Sweet Baby Ray's is a mainstream brand of BBQ sauce that is GF. There are others as well, but more $ and not as readily available at regular grocery stores.

bacon wrapped asparagus is yummy too! if you cut the asparagus down and wrap the smaller sections and then grill on a skewer it makes for a nice presentation.

you could do a roasted vegetable platter (grilled zucchini, eggplant, bell peppers, mushrooms) ... maybe in a ring around some GF hummus... bring gluten free crackers and slice a baguette for others who aren't GF!
