I just joined myfitnesspal and love it! It's such good discipline to track what I eat and not snack. I'm wondering, though, how accurate it really is in estimating calories burned in workouts. I don't want to be fooling myself into thinking I'm burning more than I really am, YKWIM? Do you guys guys heart rate monitors, or are the estimates enough for you? If so, what kind of monitor do you use?

Do you have to buy a separate chest strap or something? I'm not really that concerned with my heart rate, I just want to track calories burned. Can you do that without a strap?

It come with a strap. It tells calories. I really liked it to know how much I was burning.

I have an older Polar monitor that I use. It is pretty basic and was less than $100, but it does the job.

Did you find that it matched up with what MFP suggested calorie burn wise? I always wondered.
