DS2 just turned 2 and loves music. We have toy instruments and we play music and dance all the time. I am looking for a musical toy that does more than just play tunes, but is somehow interactive. My older DS had the Neurosmith Music Blocks and we still have that and that is a good option, but I need something different for DS2. I would appreciate any suggestions.

TIA!

My dauhter loves music, too. And her parents hate electronic toys! So we are heavy I to instruments and drums. The only noise-making electronic toy we have is her Mozart Cube. She loves, loves it. Each side has a different instrument and the cube plays Mozart orchestra tunes. You can touch each side to turn each instrument's part off and on. Sprog started just smacking them randomly but now she will isolate each instrument and she's learning what they're called and how they sound.

The instrument sound quality is pretty good. They all sound like the real thing, except for the violin, for some reason. Sprog's favorite are the French horn and flute.

:yeahthat:

DS got that drum for his first birthday and he LOVES it. I think he uses it at least once a day. I am surprised how he has figured out to use the toms, and also to hit it with other things like maracas for different sounds.
I like the fact that I can flip it upside down and store all his other instruments and the toms for the drum inside.

I was going to suggest a Remo Drum too! They are well loved here and hold up fantastically.

We have this one too - adding the bongos to our collection this Christmas.

I was looking at the Mozart Cube for my daughter who will be 20 months old at Christmas time. Do you think it is too late age-wise to buy this or is it something that can grow with them through toddlerhood?

My 21 month old has one, and plays with it frequently. She likes to press the different buttons to make the sounds, and really seems to enjoy it. I'm also giving it as gifts to several of my friends kids this year.

I saw this at a toy store and kept picking it up to play it. I was sad that my kids are too old for it.

Thanks for your input! I think I will get it for her for Christmas.
