Hi - We're participating in a stocking drive via a local charity so we need to fill stockings with small items for kids... I'm looking for some good deals on small items that can fit in a stocking with an opening about 5-6" wide - the stockings are pretty long, but the opening at the top is limiting. Ideally, would like to order through Amazon so I can get them with prime shipping.

TIA!

Land of Nod is doing free shipping on a bunch of toys and stocking stuffers. Finger puppets, little games, temporary tattoos, recorders (long and skinny).

I'd supplement the good stuff with items from the Target Dollar spot. I just picked up silly putty, mini Slinky, character socks, Hello Kitty jewelry, coloring books and some other stuff.

Michaels and AC Moore usually carry those little things you stick in water and they blow up in size (treasure chest, dinosaurs, etc.).

They are about a dollar and are fairly small.

Could you buy and split up some of the contents of those Safari Toobs?

I was at Michael's, Target, and Christmas Tree Shops the other night and all had stocking stuffers in the $1-$5 range. In the Christmas section at Target they had even started to mark down some of the stocking stuffers (there were small Disney Princesses and a few other things marked down at mine). If you need for younger kids, Christmas Tree Shops had the long skinny tubes of 3 Little People for $5 and $6. They had lots of stuff too and it was in random locations around my store (some in the toy section, some in the Christmas section). I love the Dollar Tree for inexpensive fillers too, they have lots of Christmas themed and character themed toys, puzzles, books, etc., as well as hair accessories for little girls.

These little sharks are cute and you could break up the pack:

You may want to keep checking the Amazon deals thread. It looks like a few small items are popping up today.

I just wanted to mention a few things that kids LOVE that you might forget about.

We included these in last year's stockings and they were all a huge hit. All under a buck.

Their very own roll of scotch tape
Their very own box of Band-Aids (character bandages are even better)
A flashlight (from dollar tree)
Chocolate coins wrapped in gold foil.

Just ordered tape on amazon for the two older kids yesterday. They always steal mine (from my desk in the kitchen) so I picked them each up a roll. Somehow I am sure that will be a successful gift, oddly enough ;)

I do these same things, except for the flashlight! I let them use the band-aids and tape however they like, and they don't usually last long. My kids also love having their own pad of post-its. Great stocking stuffers!

Was there a good deal? Last year I got them pink and blue rolls from WM for 97cents (just the dispenser was colored, not the tape).

This year I am considering going fancy with some printed tape or something...dunno if they will care.

Also...Forgot to mention...Their VERY OWN chapstick!

Last year I got DS this holder which clips on to his backpack...I just refill it with fun flavored lip balm whenever he runs low. He won't use *my* chap stick or Aquaphor, and he gets badly chapped in the cold, so this thing has paid for itself about 1000 times over.

Jo-the tape wasn't on super special but it was just over 1.xx per roll shipped via Prime. I was trying to take care of a few small things while DS2 was napping and thought for that price shipped...one more thing completed. I had to order a set square for DS1 for math and ordered the tape at the same time.

I got mine at Walgreen's I believe. It came with a tube of random brand lip balm, which I have since replaced with Burt's Bees.

I try and pick things up through out the year. My DH always wants me to get matchbox cars. I love to go to the target dollar spot then the dollar store. I like to get crafty things. Like paints, paint brushed, play doh, etc. They love glue sticks. I also get candy- my two love candy.

some ideas. I like the straws that turn milk into choc milk. I see that at my supermarket- so I may add some to the stocking. Also never heard of sunprints I saw some on ebay-may order some for the gift closet.

Those straws are awesome. I found a bunch at Target on clearance one time...I think they were $1.24 a pack! I bought them all but there were only a few. I let the girls have a few but most of them I drank with iced coffee...delicious!

The Blamtastic clip on sleeves retail for $3 and the site says they are available at TRU.

Here is a list of other retailers by state. I think I need another one for DD. (BTW when I bought DS's last year, I paid $2.99 shipped through Amazon. It has held up well).
