Do you need to have the little arena that they spin in ? Or is it enough to have 2 tops (the ones that are $8.99 at Toys R Us).

Thanks!

You need some type of enclosure for them to battle. If you don't want to spend money on the flimsy plastic arena (like I did last year ;)) a large rubbermaid-type tub that is smooth on the bottom should work.

ETA: Just saw a review on Amazon that said someone used a cookie/jelly roll sheet with low sides for an arena.

They are spinning tops that battle in an arena. There are different styles of Beyblades that act differently in battle (stamina, defense, attack, I think are the main styles).

JElaineB - so the arenas seem to be like $25-35 on Amazon, those are the ones that I need, right?

Thank you, so do you have to have the arena to play with them? Also you need atleast 2 ppl to play?

You can buy just an for about $11 at Toys R Us or Target. You can battle with 2 tops and 1 person or but a double launcher.

Yeah, you need the arena or some sort of container to "battle." The rubbermaid container is a great idea! The no frills arena should cost about $10-12 at Walmart or TRU. You don't want the kids to spin them on hardwood floor, tabletop, or the like as the beyblade will scratch them and they will spin all over the place!

You can battle anywhere! My kids just love spinning them w/o battling, but they will set up battles in any container they find (including the plastic sink in their play kitchen).
