Scooter help for a 3 year old

I want to get DS a scooter for Christmas and I have two in hand and not sure which to give him. He will be 3 NewYears Eve.

He has never been on one and will wear a helemt, so I don't know if the three wheeled ones are better for him than the two wheeled ones. He isn't that sporty, but loves to play outside. We live in warm weather so this will get a lot of use.

I am new to getting these more advanced toys vs the baby toys that I am used to buying. This one has my head spinning! Any help would be great!

We have the first one and honestly my girls have had trouble handling it. I think because of the adjust-ability it is pretty heavy and somewhat bulky. They haven't tried it in awhile but they were tall at 3 and just didn't really enjoy it....YMMV though as they really aren't very daring or athletic so that could make all the difference if your son is more adept with things like this.

ETA: I should mention that I do like the thick wheels on the radio flyer, it does help it balance.

I started with a razor for DS and a cheapo princess scooter for DD. It was a mistake. I have replaced both with Kickboard scooters, the maxi for DS and mini for DD. Another vote for Kickboard USA. DD tried her friend's and it was great and easy for the kids to maneuver. She is getting one for Christmas!

Especially for a child that age...for age 5+, I, or rather, DD#1 and I :), think (2-wheel) Razor scooters are great!

I would keep the Razor! We had a 3 wheeled razor for DS1 and he loved it.... DS2 got his 2 wheeled Razor last Christmas when he was 5.5 and it is his FAVORITE thing.... of all of his toys etc. He has a great bike and once he got the Razor his poor bike has been collecting dust!
