Best price I've ever seen has been:
http://www.amazon.com/KitchenAid-KSM150PSER-Artisan-5-Quart-Empire/dp/B00005UP2P/ref=wl_it_dp_o_npd?ie=UTF8&coliid=I3UG9E8304RBQB&colid=2JOTU17SRL0L0

with a $30 rebate brings it to $209.

Oh wait--if she is going to start a cake business, she really needs the Professional model (I would guess). This is still an amazing price for a Pro. model http://www.amazon.com/KitchenAid-KP26M1PGC-Professional-6-Quart-Cinnamon/dp/B005Z2KNG4/ref=sr_1_4?s=appliances&ie=UTF8&qid=1323873628&sr=1-4

But that's big money for a babysitter's gift! :)

If you have a kohls charge card, you can buy the professional mixer (http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/landingpages/kitchenaid/standmixersaccessories/standmixers/PRD~124102/KitchenAid+Professional+600+Stand+Mixer.jsp) for:
400
-120 (minus a 30% code: GIFTS4ALL)
280

-50 (for every $50 you spend right now, you get $10 in kohls cash to spend in the future)
230

-50 (there's a rebate (http://www.kohlscorporation.com/rebates/11.13KAPro600mixer.pdf) on this item)
$180 Man, if I didn't already have a 6 quart mixer, I'd be all over this!

Not sure how tightly regulated her business is going to be, but I'm not sure that kitchenaids are NSF certified (of course, I'm also not sure that actually matters, either). You can get some really good deals from used restaurant equipment supply places - maybe give them a call first to see what the options are.

Regarding this, according to SD you can ask Kohl's to price match either Amazon or Target, both of whom have it cheaper than $400. It's not a guarantee that they will though, or if they do, they may not allow you to use coupons.
