Looking for kid's lap desks for doing homework, drawing in the car, putting DVD player on in the car. Has anyone seen any good ones?

Thanks!

My dad bought a bed-tray at TRU that's kind of the same idea. It's Toy Story themed plastic and he paid less than $10.

Do you want one that has like a bean-bag type back (that goes on your lap), or one that is shaped more like an upside down U that goes over their lap?

Michaels and/or AC Moore have had the latter through the years. Not sure if they do currently. In the past (haven't checked this year), Learning Express also carried them in my area (and would paint/personalize them for you, so a markup to include that).

So possibly not what you're looking for, but when you mentioned drawing in the car I thought of this:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GEDUMA/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000BWZQCO&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1D5J01CR69201RSSPYV7

I was gifted one and my two kids fought over it until I finally cracked and bought a second one. At 2.5 and 5.5 they both love it for drawing in the car.

I guess I'm not sure if I'm looking for the bean bag kind or plastic "U" kind. They are 4 and 8 and would, hopefully, use it in the car and on the couch or around the house. Which would be best? Maybe the plastic one wouldn't make their laps so hot? Also, maybe I should get DH one for using the laptop in bed...

I've contemplated this one for my son but just feel like it should be cheaper:

It's the bean bag/pillow type. I had one of those way back when and think I'd probably get that type for my kids. I've never used a plastic U-type desk, but it seems easier to lounge on the sofa/in bed with the bean bag/pillow type.

i bought a desk like this at Five Below for $5 and then I ripped a personalization design and did it myself with Sharpie markers bought from Michaels.

Bought the plastic "U" shaped lap desk at Michael's today for $5 but tested it over the kids' car seats and it doesn't fit so well for use in the car. I found a bunch of choices of the bean bag type on the Barnes and Noble website that look cute. I'm going to check in store for those. Some of them even have a clip on the side to hold down papers.

Thanks!

DDs both got 2 recently. (Why? Who knows!)

I think DH got them at B&N and my brother got them at Target. This was probably a few months back.

ETA: These were both the beanbag style ones. And I just asked DH and he did get them at B&N.

Bummer it didn't fit. I was kind of thinking the U might not work well over a carseat. I hope you can find what you are looking for. Sounds like fun.
