Alas, DS informed me this evening that he had told DH about his wish for the large Playmobil pirate ship. He had talked about it before - in passing, over the past two years - but never as a #1 request. He asks for very little and here we are, December 19, and he actually wants something special for Christmas.

Is there any hope?

I shop months in advance. This is stressful, but I would love to surprise him on Christmas morning!

That's exactly what I was hoping when I searched TRUS...but no! It's the "Large Pirate Ship, #4290" with cabin, working anchor winch, functional crane, etc.

I would love to get it for him, and I realize it might not even be in time for Christmas.

Hmmm.

I checked bn.com and found nothing under "playmobil pirate ship" - just a DVD.
Maybe the B&M store has one?

Well, you *can* get this by Christmas. Don't know what your budget or MSRP is.

:yeahthat: Indeed, this is the only one I have found. Hmmm, nearly $200 seems awfully high! I have no idea what the MSRP is, though I suspect I will find out before I go to sleep tonight!

This is an actual toy store near me. It's called www.reallygreattoys.com (http://www.reallygreattoys.com) online, but is the Doll Hospital and Toy Soldier Shop. You could call and see if they'd ship same day.

Amazon says MSRP is $109.99. If you click on "have one to sell" on the right, you'll see a box with the price with a line through it :). But, reviews are from 2008, so it's likely not made any more.

Thank you, Kris!
I am confused because this large Pirate Ship is displayed rather prominently on pages 16-17 of the Playmobil 2011 catalog. It's so frustrating!
Moreover, the Toy Soldier website says that there is no Playmobil 4290 in stock. I will keep trying, but only for another hour...and then tomorrow...

Thanks, everyone!

I did not pay the extra $50 to get it by Christmas but...I placed an order this morning! Thank you so, so much for the help.

DH explained to DS that it is hard for Santa to fulfill these last minute requests. DS said it's totally fine, he would appreciate the pirate ship as an early birthday present at some point (his birthday isn' for another five months!). I am so grateful for your help and for his incredibly positive attitude.

Here's to the BBB!
