Does anyone have the FAO Schwartz "The Big Piano?"

Two units of this product appear defective and I'm trying to determine if the directions are wrong or if the piano is made this way. The company says it's defective, but I'm looking for real world experience. Under the "play" function button the black keys are supposed to play melodies and then you should be able to hit a white key to play one note of the selected melody. The black keys in this function do not work. However, on the "Demo" function it plays a melody, but does not allow use of the white keys.

Can anyone help me out? I'd hate to think I've received two problematic pianos.
