My daughter is turning 3 and we're doing a princess party this year. I got princess capes for the girls. How do I include the boys? Would be funny to turn them into princes, but how? All ideas welcome!

Princes or knights are very common ways to include boys at a princess party.

you could do Knight capes and crowns or shields for the boys.

I was thinking knights with foam swords and shields. I know I've seen those in Oriental Trading and similar catalogs.

For 3 year olds, definitely pirates. I'm not sure if most boys that age would know what knights are.

Because you already have capes for the girls, I would get capes for the boys. Just call them knights.

I had a princess party for DD's 4th b-day. For a craft, we decorated crowns. There were pink and blue ones available at Joanns. I bought some glittery star-shaped foam stickers that the boys liked. There also were other crowns at Joanns that had less decorating space in gold, silver and purple.

I found wands at the $1 spot at Target and had a mix of pink and gold ones. I made sure the coloring sheets included princes (although no one really colored). Especially at age 3, I really wouldn't worry too much about it. Just plan activities and include the boys. If you have some items you can differentiate, do so, but I wouldn't stress about it. I was concerned about it, but I could have had all pink stuff and I don't think it would have mattered.

DS attended a princess party, and was given Knight stuff... foam sword, etc. He loved it and was not freaked by the pink fluffy stuff around. Boys also had Knight cupcakes (different topper) instead of the pink princess cupcakes. Bounce House was pink, etc. Fun party!

My son attended a princess party at age 4 just this month and LOVED it. She did something different for the boys -- but I don't remember what. He didn't care.
