12" trek bike?

12 inch Trek bike $30 on crags list - is this a good deal? I'm thinking I can teach my 5 year old and then it can be my 3 year olds. - what do you think?

It's a good deal for a Trek, but I think that it will be too small for your 5 year old. I guess you will have to check it out in person.

My 6 year old rides a 20" trek. Sounds like a good price though!

My 3 year old can easily ride a 12 inch bike, so I'd guess it will be much too small for your 5 year old. But, I'd totally get it for the 3 year old! That's a great price.

Your 5 year old will likely need a 20 inch bike.

My 8 year old just got a 24 inch mountain bike for Christmas and it's none too big for her.

Buy it for your 3 year old.

If you have a very small 5 year old, it might be fine but I don't know many 5 year olds who are that small.

When DS was 5 he fit on a 16 inch Trek. He has outgrown it at 7 and is going to be moving to a 20 inch bike.

$30 is awesome for a Trek though. I would get the 12 inch for your 3 yr old.

I agree with everyone else. My 3 year old is on a 12" now. He'll probably move up to a 16" this summer, just before turning 4. My 5 year old DD has a 16" and will get a 20" this summer when she turns 6. She could do another year on 16" I think, but it would be nice if they all moved up - easier on the bike rides.

Thanks everyone! I picked up the bike - it is small but I'm hoping my 3 year old can ride it without training wheels (she is pretty good on her balance bike) and maybe even my 5 year old (who is very cautious!) can use it a little And then we can buy her a new bigger one for her birthday in a few months.
