Just wondering if anyone had tips on finding cheap or free books for the kindle? I gave my mom one for Christmas and would like to help her find some deals as well to fill it up. I know there have been threads on this on slickdeals but are there any websites that follow the prices or show lists of mark downs? TIA!:waving4:

I'm not sure there are kindle book deals (or at least a lot of them). Most will be $10 or less, or free. You can get tons of free books - here is a list on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=kindle+free+books+list&tag=googhydr-20&index=digital-text&hvadid=8280893661&ref=pd_sl_8g7oqkc4ex_b

and here is a tutorial on how to get them http://www.squidoo.com/how-to-find-free-kindle-books

If one of you are on facebook, be sure to 'like' the device's page. They often list freebees. Kindle Fire has been listing free apps everyday.

also, she should be able to borrow some Kindle books from her library.

also, don't forget - many classics are free because of copyright laws. On the Amazon site you can find a list.

I don't find the books I get for free or .99 very good most of the time.

I do borrow books from my library's ebooks though there is a lot of waiting for many titles.

The kindle deal of the day can sometimes be good and I find worth subscribing to the emails - these are usually .99.

Amazon also has a daily kindle deal for a book at a reduced price. You can sign up for daily deal alerts on their website.

I can't figure out how to sign up for the emails letting me know the free app of the day or the daily book deal... Can somebody tell me where to sign up?

Try out http://www.pixelofink.com/ They will send a daily email or if you "like" them on facebook, deals will pop up on your facebook page. They list free and discounted books.

Oh thank you for posting the Amazon link. They had Lois Lowry's the Giver for $0.99 today! I wanted to get that book for DD to read eventually so that's awesome!
