right now everything is in a small bin, spilling out....and completely unorganized...
DD1 has quite a few fairy outfits and princess dresses.....and will be getting more I'm sure.
So between those, the wings, jewelry, pirate gear...and other random outfits and things....it's a giant mess!

So how do you keep things organized? I'm thinking of keeping the dresses and fairy outfits up in her room and she can go up and get them as needed......but I'm at a loss for how to neatly keep everything else at an arms reach....

Ours are in the basement playroom. Costumes hang on a rolling hanging rack like this (ours is adjustable so it is at the kids' height):

And a big wicker basket next to it holds all of the accessories (hats, fire extinguisher, crowns, swords, etc)

We have everything in big toy boxes, one for each kid, but I wish we had this! http://ana-white.com/2010/11/craftiness-not-optional’s-dress-storage

I bought this for DD's dress up clothes. Its really cute, hand painted. Its the perfect size for DD to hang her clothes up. I'm very happy with it.

I used 3M command adhesive hooks on the sides of furniture for costumes, then put accessories in a drawer or two in DD's room. In DSs' room, same thing for the costumes, but accessories go inside the closet in a big bin. In the boys' room, the 3M hooks are on the inside and outside of the closet door. Takes up no floorspace at all.

DD has a big closet, so I put a tension rod from front to back and we hung the costumes there. I bought a couple Sterlite drawer sets for jewelry, head pieces, skirts, etc. you could do a tension rod between a dresser and a wall.

We have a soft sided under bed back that we load up with costumes and hide under the couch. Our living room is the kids play area currently so this saves DH and I from having to get them out of closet upstairs but keeps them hidden out of the way when not in use. Both girls can easily pull it out and unzip it and load it back up. It holds a TON of stuff.

We use a large plastic tote, tucked away in DD's closet. Drives me nuts to have it all just thrown in there but to be honest, she just leaves it laying around anyway so it does make clean-up easier! What I need now is a way to store her dress-up jewelry and her hair accessories.

:yeahthat: DD's playroom has a small 2nd closet that had no bar, so we hung a tension rod and hung all of her costumes on that. Accessories are in smallish sterilite containers with lids in the closet, and hats, boas, purses, etc., are on command hooks we hung on the inside of the closet door.

I like this......this could work under the couch in the playroom. I have this dead space between the couch and the wall in the playroom where I'd like to put dress-up stuff.....but it may not work.
Under the couch would keep the stuff away from DD2 too!
