Has anyone seen any great baby boy nursery themes/bedding?
I am really at a loss. I can't find anything I like. Maybe I just need someone else's suggestions?
I thought I saw some cute light blue and orange themed photos on google images, but am not sure if it is boy-ish enough. Many of the looks seem to be lost without the bumper, which we don't use.
I am only going to (possibly) painting the room, buying crib sheets and fabric for drapes (I am a big believer in black out curtains). Any ideas?
Have you checked out Ohdeedoh?

I have to admit that I really like the details in a nursery. I didn't spend a ton of money on dd's but I did buy/make some decorative touches. We are in a rental so I didn't bother with painting the walls. I bought clearance PBK sheets in a color and pattern I like. Then I added three framed prints, her name over her crib in a vinyl decal (this looks surprisingly nice IMO and since we live in earthquake country we were more comfortable using the decal than wooden letters) and I made a mobile (inspired by some I found on Etsy). I think I spent about $200 on those things, including the crib sheets.
BTW, I think orange and blue is a very little boy color combo.

Have you looked through any of the rooms on OhDeeDoh? They feature a lot of colorful nurseries that step outside the crib bumper/matching bedding set box.

Pinterest is also a great resource:

You may also be able to give yourself more drapery options by using blackout shades underneath the drapes.
Check houzz.com also. It's a home decorating I spiration site, but they have some very cool kids rooms on there.

If anything, try not to freak out about the baby nursery. By the time they are two, they transition to a big boy bed and if your theme is too babyish, you end up changing the decor again. Whatever you do, my suggestion is to go with a theme that can grow with your child, at least until they are closer to school aged, so you don't have to change the room again when they are a toddler/preschooler. I have always done with with my kids and been glad that I did not over-theme for their baby phase. It's such a short period.

try to think of a theme that lots of (inexpensive) stuff can be found for - see if something tickles your imagination...
cowboys, trains, the sea & underwater world, sun moon stars, north woods, beach, cars & trucks...
if you do a 'generic' theme like this, you decide what goes with it, not someone pushing fabric bumpers and adorable but unusable quilts.
I did a lot of searching on PBK, Company Kids and a few other sites...to just get color combination ideas and see what themes and shapes they were using.
I think blue and orange is very cute for a boy and you have a wide variety of shades you could work with.
I have two girls.....but I knew I didn't want to do a "baby" them. DD1 has a pink/green room with flower decals on the walls and gingham curtians/lamp shade/sheets, which I bought at various places.
DD2 has a purple/green room with butterfly wall decals and polk-a-dot sheets/curtains/lamp shade.
Hip In A Hurry has a ton of wall decals, which look great on the walls, but can easily be taken off when you (or your DS) are ready to change the theme.
PBK sells very nice black-out curtains in a few lengths. They didn't have what I wanted, so I made my own curtains out of twin sheets and just did a double curtain rod and hung blackout pannels behind the curtains.
I know a few moms on here have also used the bumper from a crib set and turned it into a valance and then hung the quilt on the wall until it's needed for the toddler bed.
you def. have a lot of options beyond the bed-in-a-bag crib sets sold everywhere!

I started with something I loved and worked off of that. In our case it was some wrapping paper one of my shower gifts was wrapped in! It has a vintage feel that I love. Similar to this: http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/item/Cavallini-Toys-Wrapping-Paper/3650.041/475235.html
I saved the paper for months and eventually framed it in a poster frame.
Then I found these decals at Target that also had a vintage feel. http://www.target.com/p/WALL-DECOR-TRANSPORTATION/-/A-13764024
I used them along the baseboards and put the airplane/helicopters above the crib.
I never love the sets they sell for bedding, so I just use a plain colored crib sheet and there is a colorful quilt made by DS's great-grandma on the glider.

Well, with DS1 we didn't know if we were having a boy or girl and did a Dr. Seuss themed room. I figured it could grow with him. DS2 is now in the room...but it will serve until he is older. I didn't even get Seuss bedding. Just different colored sheets, changing pad covers and gingham print curtains in yellow with a blue gingham print valance. I painted the furniture (except the crib) different bright colors and painted "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" on each of the 4 dresser drawers. I also used colors from the other rooms in the house and each wall of the nursery is a different color (one green, one yellow, one blue, one purple-blue).
When DS1 moved into his big boy room, we repurposed the office (already painted a blue/green). We didn't repaint at all. We bought new red and blue gingham curtains/valance; got various train prints/posters; I painted a table with a train, truck, plane, and boat; got an area rug from Home Depot that has a transportation theme; and got a train comforter for his bed. He LOVES his room...and it was relatively inexpensive to change out. He and his little bro share the same sheets...just various solid colors.

I have been browsing super hero stuff on Pinterest....because DH is a long time comic fan and we have some stuff already, including a cool looking vintage superman poster...I'm thinking if we could keep it "kiddie" it might be fun. Plus, I like the idea of a room not too soon grown out of.
Here are some of the cute things I pinned: http://pinterest.com/leahmelaine/nursery-ideas/
