I know we should keep DC in her crib as long as possible, but I'm just curious, what's the longest anyone has kept their DC in a crib?

DD moved at 2. She (was) a rule follower. Now, at 13, she's not so much;)

DS1 moved at 3. He was a rule follower, but liked his crib.

DS2 is 3 1/2 and still in the crib. He's not a rule follower and likes his crib a great deal. Bonus points for being too short to climb out.

ds is 5. i'm starting to think about moving him or taking off the side, but he's not potty trained, so no rush.

Everyone was out of the crib and in full or twin beds between 24 and 32 months.

We moved DD at about 22 months. She needed more independence for us to all sleep through the night! And we are all much happier!

DD1 moved out of the crib at 31 months because she started climbing out.

We moved DD out into her full bed at 22 months. DS was going to be born (and we were not going to be buying a 2nd crib) when DD was 26 months so we wanted a transition period from the crib to the bed.

DS transitioned out at 22 months as well...that's because he was potty trained and he needed access to the toilet.

I caught ds in the act of climbing out of his crib before he turned two :(. So we switched it to a toddler bed then. Dd is 21 months and still in the crib. I don't think she will be able to climb out any time soon so I am hoping she will stay in until she is much older.

DS moved out around 32 months so he would be used to the new bed before his sister was born and took his crib. DD moved out around 3 years old. Neither of them ever tried to climb out so I didn't want to mess with a good thing.

DD1 was 27 months old and went from the crib to a air mattress (for two weeks while we were getting a mattress for her) to a twin bed. We will do the twin bed for DD2 also whenever that maybe.

Both older kids were between 3 and 4. They both loved their cribs.

DS1 started getting out of his crib at 20 months. He wouldn't just get out, he would throw his blanket out, get himself out, then bring his blanket and himself into the neighboring guest room and climb into the guest bed (full size bed). So we got him a toddler bed but he didn't like it and slept in it maybe 5 times. Complete waste of money. When we actually had guests I would put him in the toddler bed and he would get out later and crawl in bed with our guest! (Luckily this was usually grandma).

So eventually we just let him sleep in the guest bed in that room, which by then was a guest bedroom/nursery since DS2 had taken over the crib. DS1's room basically became a play room/changing room where no one slept. Finally I bought bunk beds that could work "debunked" and gave DS1 the lower bunk, and a little after age 2 we transitioned DS2, who had never tried to escape the crib, into the "top" bunk, but it was on the floor with rails all around it so he couldn't fall out. We didn't have any problems with him wandering around.

I will never do another toddler bed, when DS3 is old enough I am just going to put him in a twin bed with safety rail. And I don't expect him to be in the crib past 2.5 even if he's not an escaper--he will want a bed like his brothers.

DS will be 3 next Sunday and he is still comfortably napping and sleeping in his crib. I have no plans to take him out if it anytime soon. He did start climbing out of his crib around 21 months old, but we put a crib tent over it and he's never climbed out if it since. The zipper of the crib tent has been broken now for about 6 months, so we dont zip it shut anymore, but he still never tries to climb out, thankfully!

DD1 was almost three. She was potty trained and we wanted her to feel like a big girl because DD2 was in a crib.
I think she could have easily stayed in longer.....she never showed any desire to get out.

Now DD2.....I'm keeping my fingers crossed we'll make it to two. She easily copies everything DD1 does.....including climbing on things, so I'm sure she'll make the connection soon :(
