View Full Version : Holy Moly, I see a line! - Updated

So we have been really casually TTC since I got my cycle back about 8 months ago. It took well over a year to get pg with Sam and we decided we were good either way, happy if it happens, happy with 2 if it doesn't.

So I got a new phone right before Xmas, and I forgot to download the info on my cycle app, so I have no idea when my last AF was - like, I guess it was *sometime* in December. So Today I'm like 'huh, wonder when that was' and POAS with an internet cheapie for the hell of it.

I forgot about the darn thing and go in more than an hour later and see a quite-faint-yet-surely-pink line. So before freaking I take another Internet cheapie and a $ store. The $ store was BFN but the IC has another super faint but still pink line. I have used these (from the same package of 25) before and no shadow lines or indents and only one evap. (That DH found and that was hilarious!)

This level of not knowing is killing me! And I'm freaking as I haven't been taking my vitamins and I did take like 4 ativan mid-December.

...And then I remind myself that it isn't my first time on this go-round and I know better. With a line that faint I would be shocked to be more than 10 - 12 DPO (I got a decent BFP at 10DPO with PG#1) The ativan was way before that and I have been on a dark green leafy veggie kick so yay for natural folic acid!

Agghh, am I or aren't I? Hopefully another IC in the AM will give me a more concrete answer!

:cheerleader1: here's hoping for another line in the morning!

Oh man, BTDT. I had a dream about two lines and tested on a fluke, even though it was probably days too early to "tell" that cycle. Yep, same thing as happened to you. Next day, finally got in for a dr office test... confirmed Sprog pregnancy!

That faint line sure stressed me out.

Update???????????

So I have no idea what is going on!

I took another IC with FMU and I got the same really faint line. I would assume with FMU it would be significantly darker - but it isn't.

I would go with evap lines, but they are very clearly visable in the appropriate window.

If it were a chem pg, wouldn't the line be darker or lighter the next day?

Grrr, I just don't know! Maybe I'll hop out today for a digital for the AM although I think it is a no for me this cycyle!

do a hold - like 3 or 4 hours - and then ring out the big guns...test with a FRER!

I always thought how dark the line was didn't matter, a line is a line. I would get a FRER, that's what I used in the middle of the day after peeing a million times and I got a line w/in seconds. I was 6 days late though.

Maybe use a digital test? I like those best because I don't have to guess.

Alright ladies,

While I loathe doing it... I am going crazy over here...

What do you think? The top is from this AM...

There are definitely lines there, which in my book is a BFP, but, like you, the lines drive me crazy, so when I really think I'm preggo, I spring for the digital one that says "pregnant." Only thing that puts my mind at ease.

With DS, I got a line like the ones you have, 3 days before AF, so the next time I had to go (around noon, I think), I used the digital and it popped up pregnant almost instantly.

With this pregnancy, skipped the lines and went straight to digital. Couldn't take the stress.

IIRC, any line, no matter how faint, is a BFP. Congratulations!

Definitely looks like 2 lines to me!! This is exactly how my test looked 22 weeks ago (we are expecting DD3 in May)!! It did take 4-5 days for the line to get significantly darker- but when I did the digital test (by the second day I couldn't stand not knowing) it was a BFP!! Good luck and please keep us posted!! How exciting!!

line = bfp!! congrats!! :bighand:

also, if you try a digi, just don't be disappointed if it comes back "not pregnant" - they have a lower sensitivity than some of the ICs or the FRER

with this pregnancy i was getting lines on ICs and FRERs for at least three or four days before i got a positive digital test

:cheerleader1: A line is a line, no matter how light! It doesn't show up at all unless you have that pregnancy hormone running through your body! Woot woot! Early congratulations!
And I personally think the "First Response" pregnancy tests in the pink/purple boxes are the best. They tests up to 5 days before you miss AF, so super sensitive. Go for it!

I waited until AF was 1 week late to test with DS and DD2, and the lines were still very light with both - but obviously I was pregnant! :) Congrats!

Totally BFP in my book, as long as it was read in the normal period of time. With DD I had the faintest of faint pink lines and DH didn't even believe I was pg. I told him if IF had taught me anything, it was that a line is a line. I retested the next morning with FMU and got BFN results on two tests (an FRER and an equate). I assumed it was a chemical pgcy and waited to start my period, which never came. A week later I retested and it was blazingly positive. I still have no idea what happened there. Even with FMU I must have been just at the threshhold the tests could detect. Weird.

I used a digital with DS2 but only because it was a freebie in a box of OPKs. I did the test casually and was totally and absolutely shocked when it was positive. IIRC they have a higher threshhold to show up positive though, so if you are *super* early it could be possible to test + on a very sensitive test (like FRER) and it not show up yet on a digital. WHen I tested I think FRER could detect levels around 10-15 but digitals were more like 50+ The peeonastick website if it still exists has all that info.

Looks like a preggo test to me!! :cheerleader1:

Well...

I'll spare you the sight of anything else I've peed on, but I am 100% Pregnant! :love-retry:

FRER has a faint but obvious pink line and there is just no mistaking a big digital 'Pregnant'!

Now why is it for each of my (3!) planned and very much welcomed pregnancies my gut reaction is head-between-the-knees, hyper-ventalating, What-have-I-done panic?

I just found out a month ago that I'm pg w/my 3rd & I've been fending of panic attacks (even though this was planned!) since then, so it's nice to know someone else feels the same way!

Congratulations!!! And I was the same way with the panicky feeling as soon as I saw the lines. Instantly my emotions went from "I hope I'm pregnant!" to "Crap, what have we done???" With DD2 it took several weeks to actually get past that and get to full-on happiness/excitement, even though she was completely planned and desired. Once I saw the first ultrasound, though, I was pretty much head over heels. :-)

Best wishes for a happy and healthy 9 months!
