I'd love to find some turtleneck sweaters that i actually like. I looked allwinter and didn't find anything. Also, did. Not find the red cords i wanted. Would still love some brown knee high boots and some good winter boots. If i found a great deal, i'd get a red, wool wrap coat.

Hi Alaina!

I like that you have a list and a plan! I just ordered this cowl-neck layering piece from Boden:

http://www.bodenusa.com/en-US/Clearance/Womens-Knitwear/Jumpers/WK677/Womens-Notting-Hill-Jumper.html?NavGroupID=6

I had to order it in cream, as it was the only one they had in my size. It looks like the sizes available vary some from day to day (probably due to holiday gift returns). I really wanted it in the gunmetal (almost pale blue) color. I will probably re-order if one of those comes available, because I really love it!

At any rate, thought that this might meet your criteria.

Let me know how you like it IRL and whether it runs TTS or a little bit large as ler reviews. I've been watching sizes as well, and tried to order it in light blue/gray earlier today, but had trouble doing so on iPad and then had to take DS to his activitis. Of course, now that we are back home and I have a moment to myself, my size is OOS in every single color :(.

Ahhhh! Boden has the cowl neck in the grey/blue in a 6 now!! Should I order? I haven't even gotten the cream piece yet. But I like this color on me so much better. It's $10 shipping which is what kills me!

I just placed an order for the light gray tunic in size 6, hopefully it will fit and be flattering. I was looking for something to wear with dark gray skinny jeans for a while and this looks promising. Free shipping and returns plus 3% back by going through Mr.Rebates with code AF39. It shows as still in stock if you need enabling ;). Also, according to reviews it runs large so you need to size down.

Oooh, Kozachka, how did you get free shipping? Is that through Mr. Rebates? I always have used a ebates, and I don't think they offer that deal. I have been tempted, but I probably need a 4 if sizing down is really necessary. I ordered a 6 in the cream, and if it would only get here (shipping from them is so slow), I could try it on for fit and then switch colors!

kozachka
01-11-2012, 01:03 AM
I used a Mr.Rebates link, but you can also use the code posted in the Bargains forum and in my post above, if you don't want to go that route. I ordered down, so if the reviews are wrong, there might be a gray size 6 tunic popping back up on Boden again.

ETA: This tunic is available in size 6 in every single color right now, in case you want to buy it, and several other sizes but 4. HTH!

You are k.i.l.l.i.n.g. me.

Seriously.

You have to stop showing me all of these great pieces that are techincally out of the budget I have set for the remainder of the season, but totally cute and great deal.

On a more budget friendly note, I did find a cute Max Studio wrap dress at NR for a steal. It's more for spring though so I keep wrestling with whether to pull the trigger on the Boden one. Secretly I think I just want it to go out of stock so I won't have to keep contemplating it.

Umm, and yeah, I am totally planning my outfit for tomorrow around the Torfino's. If it's going to drop 30+ degrees and dump snow on us I might as well feel cute.

I desperately need a purse. I'm tired of carrying my diaper bag everywhere. If it could hold a diaper or two and a pack of travel wipes, that would be awesome. I am not looking to spend the amount of money an actual diaper bag purse would cost.

Also looking for some just below the knee skirts. And some normal sweaters.

Apparently, all my nice clothes are maternity. I am not a maternity size at the moment.

Alaina,

I will! I am anxiously awaiting its arrival. It's coming from the UK, so very long transit time. I am so hoping it gets here today, because now there are more of the blue/grey color in stock in both of my potential sizes.

I love my Macy's sweaters/sweater dresses--all 3 of them. I think I posted pix before in other threads, but here they are again, all in one place:

I want a v-neck sweater vest. I have one from ON that I love, and found another last fall at Macy's, but it looked almost like the one I have. Has anyone seen one?

Aside from that, I really need to consider myself DONE with my wardrobe. I'm hoping to lose some weight this year!

The Boden sweater finally made it. Just as I thought, I am not loving the cream/wheat color. It does nothing for my skin.

This is a size 6. On me, it is roomy at the waist, just right at the chest, and just right over the butt. Ideally, it would be a little more fitted at the waist, but I am worried that if I go smaller, it will really be clingy in the back.

Any thoughts? Keep, exchange for the blue/grey color in a 6 (or try sizing down and see what happens)? The striped shirt I purchased to go under (a la the model) doesn't work at all. Might be better with the blue/grey.

Here is a picture with a thin belt. The second picture is to show actual size of the garment for any who are considering it.

I am not loving cream tunic on you, I am afraid. If you like how it fits you, I'd try getting it in another color. And now you have me worried about the fit... I've lost quite a bit of weight in the last year, and have never ordered anything but tops from Boden, so not sure what size I am in tunics. Have a feeling it won't be particularly flattering on my pearshaped body. And I am not interested in having a just OK top that I hardly wear for $55. Few more days of wait...

lmintzer
01-12-2012, 04:57 PM
Thanks to both of your for honest feedback. I don't like the color on me, either. Darn pasty white skin!

I think it would look a whole lot better in another color. I am going to try the blue/grey.

If it makes you feel any better, it's super comfy and cozy without being too warm. I love the texture of the fabric, and the neck is so comfortable (unlike many turtle or cowl necks).

I hope yours works out, kozachka. I am not sure being pear shaped would necessarily make it not fit.

I might try to size down and order a darker color.
I was eyeing that top/tunic too, as I want more stuff to wear with leggings.

BTW, I have very similar skin tone and hair color. Sometimes lighter beiges, creams, grays can work for me but for the most part I have to stay away from those lighter colors.

To answer OP's question, I am hoping and need to pick a pair of high-quality tailored black trousers in 3-season wool that I can wear to the office and that fit me really well. Something like these (http://www.revolveclothing.com/DisplayProduct.jsp?code=AWAN-WP36&c=Alexander+Wang) Alexander Wang wide leg pants. Hoping to pay closer to $100 but will spend more if necessary as I'd get a lot of wear out of them. My current straight black pants from All Saints (bought on sale for $75) are very loose on me now that I've lost over 10 lbs. Unfortunately, they no longer carry this style so I need to hit B&M stores and try some pants on as my two other office pants no longer fit right either.

Okay, I am going to try to size down after all. It just looks too big in the photos, even though I didn't feel like it was too big. After all, knits stretch.

Of course, now that I figure all of that out, it's gone in the size I need in the grey/blue color.

I think I could like the navy. The only problem is that I was planning to pair this tunic sweater with black leggings and black boots. What color would work?

Just placed an order for a pair of black tropical wool Tory Burch pants from Saks consolidation sale. They were $88 before tax and shipping was free for me since I have their cc. OK, here are some of my recent purchases. I agree w/A. that Jan is a dangerous month. So many nice things on super clearance and plenty of winter left.

Banana Republic:

$14 Cowl neck (OP, I got it in cream). Kind of scratchy, but I'll wear a cami. Love that it's fitted though. http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=26503&vid=1&pid=884210

$11 SS sweater in all 3 colors. This is kind of thin, but loved the cut and not too long, so I can wear w/pencil skirts. It's hard to find cropped, fitted sweaters these days. I can wear the pink w/my blueberry wool pencil skirt from J Crew. The purple is a nice, deep, rich color.
http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=26503&vid=1&pid=884319

$16 This jeweled cardy in all 3 colors. Very beautiful in person. Love it.http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=26503&vid=1&pid=884316

Gap:

Love these lightweight, dark blue pants (not really jean material, but jean cut). Will be perfect with navy/white boatneck stripped t's this spring. I got both the long and leans and perfect boot (love both cuts, although both very simiar). The rise is quite high. Funny, I bought 2 pair of the LL b/c one was an inch shorter than the other in the exact same size. I can wear one pair w/flats and one with a heel. Jeans were $8.39 after 40% off clearance price!

(I have a $130 Gap Card credit burning a hole in my pocket!:))

DrSally, how did you get that cardi for $16? Is the in-store price a lot lower than the online price? It's $79.99 online. I might have to hunt it down in the store for that price!

Oh yeah, all the prices are much cheaper in store than online ( a the Gap too). And there was an additional 30% off clearance at Both ( could be 40% at gap). Definitely makes it worth it to go to the store.

Try to go to a mall w/ a larger BR, so there will be more stock. I was at the mall today for. Bday party, and popped back in. There was still a lot of stuff. But the stock is going down.

Was at NR today when DS was at his bday party in the mall. Found the Suzi Chin faux wrap dress in taupe for $16!! also another Suzi Chin dress, very similar, w/ruching in the middle and sleeveless for $$20, and a pretty Donna Morgan printed dress for $35. All fit great, i couldn't pass up the good prices.

Thanks so much for posting about the BR sale. Everything was an extra 40% off today. I also got the jeweled cardy in black and ivory and several other tops. Great prices on everything I got.

Great! 40% is even better. May vary by location. They were doing 40% off around xmas, but then it went down to 30% at my location. Sorry i just got to this thread, i was gone all day at the mall!

Jumping on the BR bandwagon!

I bought this Cashmere Sweater (http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=884085&locale=en_US&kwid=1&sem=false&sdReferer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bananarepublic.com%2Fpr oducts%2Fcashmere-sweaters-for-women.jsp) in grey last Tuesday during the Power Hour special where women's sale items were an additional 50% off. So it came out to be 30. :boogie:

I also got the sweater shrug that mimi2008 mentioned for 5.

I didn't realize that their sales were still going, so I may pop into another BR Store soon. DH may not like this.

Don't you just love free returns. You didn't like the velvet jacket. I've eye'd that off and on for a few seasons, until i picked up a similar velvet coat from TUlle at NR on clearance for $40 last winter!

So I stopped at another larger BR store today and picked up a couple more things. The SA told me today was the last day for the extra 40% off sale prices.

These are what I got.

Vera ruffle vee (2 colors)
http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=26499&vid=1&pid=883994

Knotted jersey tee
http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=26499&vid=1&pid=883993

Striped button back sweater

Shawl collared merino cardigan
http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=26503&vid=1&pid=429887

I also got the jeweled cardy in 2 colors that DrSally posted earlier and the metallic pullover in 2 colors that mimi2008 posted about. And a purple ruffle cardy that not on the website.

I spent about $130 for 10 items.

If anybody is interested in getting Boden's Notting Hill Jumper in gray in size 6, keep an eye on the site. I'd be returning the one I got. It does not look good on me - too fitted in the hips, too short for my taste and too close to my neck/ suffocating. Also, color does not look as nice as in the photo, no hint of blue, just light gray, if that makes sense. Guess I'd have to look for something in stores as need to try it on.

Bummer (for me, great for you!) - I was looking at the velvet coat in purple, it is back in stock in my size. I was planning to size down. It looks so good on the model! But I don't like the sound of a boxy look. Hmm...what to do, what to do.

Oops, I accidentally came home with some pants from the Gap, even though they were no longer on my official list. :o I'd been looking for skinny pants that were tight around my knee. I figured this late in the season, I could just resist and wait until next year. I took them off my list, and resisted shopping for them. Apparently yesterday I could resist no longer. I found two pairs of legging jeans, skinny bootcut flap pocket jeans, and the super lightweight long & lean... all for $38!!

In my defense, I went to BR and the Gap to look for the white button-down that IS on my list. ;)

I dragged my sniffly self into a BR the other day to see if I could find some bargains (I'm tired of being home sick!).

No luck. I totally struck out. Found the jeweled cardigan in my size in grey, but one of the jewels was coming off--the stitching was loose. And then I wondered where I'd wear it. The price was sure right, though. I probably would have bought it if it had been in good shape.

I tried on a few other tops, most of which were unflattering, and a pair of wool pants that were too tight (sob! I really have gained weight!). This top was cute but was too long in a regular. Here it is in petite on the website, so I may order it for Spring:

Love those lightweight long and leans! Will be perfect for spring and when you're not ready to show those legs yet.

Eta: at least i have that problem. I feel self conscious in the transition to shorts and want to hang onto my pants for as long as possible!

Darn it. I wondered the same thing about the jeweled cardy, but other mom's wear jeweled sweaters out to MNO or things like that. I think the rest of the sweater is muted enough that it's not too "fancy". I just noticed that my gray one has a loose jewel too. I'm going to have to see if i can sew it back on, but i agree, thAt i might not have bought it, had i seen that.
