I need it to be warm, flexible, not thick, a cute color, no hood. Of course, on sale is great too. In a B&M store would be best so I can try it on to see how bendy/stretchy it is and to get the right size.

eta: I should note this will be the layer between my silk underwear/cuddleduds and my ski jacket. Need the same type of layer for under my ski pants also, but I have some old LLBean/Kombi fleece that I just may cut the elastic waistband of to make them fit better.

I have this North Face fleece in the gorgeous plum, which is really pink:

I wear it all the time! It's a great slim fit for wearing under another jacket, the fleece is thin and not bulky.

I got it at a North Face store, but it looks like they have a store locator. I'm 5'8, 125 lb and mine is a small.

Love, love, love Patagonia's Better Sweater. Awesome layer and cute on its own. Especially perfect for your weather in late fall and early spring.

We just want skiing and I have icebreaker longjohns and then a sweater. It's merino wool, keeps you warm and does not smell if you sweat. DH wore fleece and other thermals and his clothes were super stinky.

I love my North Face fleece under my jacket but I also have a set of the Under Armour cold gear that I wear as my layers. I have a set of nice Columbia layering gear too.

I haven't gotten to a real store to try some of these on. The closest I got to one was 18min. after they closed.

What do you guys think about the workout gear at Costco as a middle layer? I got the jacket that's like Lululemon. I think I can cut the waistband of my fleece LLB Kombi pants to make them work (and still breathe.)

Ok, I'm liking the better sweater - tried it on at 2 stores today (trying to find the right size) and I need some help. The M is snug and the L is too large Does it shrink and what color did you guys get? REI has it in gray/natural but I wonder if the magenta is beautiful IRL.

And is there any way to get it on sale? I see Moosejaw has it for $99, but I'd love to get it at a B&M tomorrow.

Just adding another suggestion.
I have this one and love it. Super flexible, easy to ski in (I wore it the past two weekends to ski actually!):

I love the trim cuffs - make it great for layering. And love the breast pocket for my cell phone. Super soft and warm.
I bought mine at sierratradingpost.com for $70-80 with one of their 30% off coupons (that's 30% off sierratradingpost.com already reduced price).
There are lots of other colors too - check mountainhardwear.com to see other options.
