After reading some comments on the thyroid issue and the fact I haven't had my period come back I am getting a little concerned. So I am wondering when you got your period back after giving birth.

This is my 5th child, 4th delivery. In the past I have had my period return anywhere from 8-12 and with the twins at 15 weeks. Our baby is now 5.5 months old and no sign of my period yet. Do you think I need to see my OB/GYN? Is this normal? I am nursing but did with the others as well.

B - and not that I want it back, I just want to be healthy! Thanks for your input!

Five months with DS, who I nursed for that exact time frame.

DS was five days short of 11 months when I got it back (I remember the exact day because it was my bday, what a nice present right?). I BF DS until almost 12 months, and introduced solids at 6 months.

6m with DD. Not sure yet with DS. I have had friends who didn't get it back for a year, and others who got it back within 2 mo of giving birth.

I'd enjoy your time away from AF!!! Mine came back at 6 WEEKS with DS1 and 5 WEEKS with DS2 even though I was nursing exclusively.

Three of my best friends didn't get their's back till after the one year mark though-- one at 13 months, one at 17 months both times, and one at 20 months.

8 months after DS was born, and I didn't BF (physically could not-- never produced milk).

Around 8 months with DSs. BFing exclusively until 6 months when I added solids but continued to BF. No sign of her yet and DD is just 6 months. She even went through a month between 2.5-3.5 months where she slept through the night for 10 hours. I haven't started solids yet with her (out of sheer laziness or busy-ness) if that makes a difference.

When DS was 15 months - I breastfeed him still, we started solids at 6 or 7 months.

9 months with DD1 but it came back as soon as I stopped EBF
5 months with DD2 because I stopped nursing sooner.

Just shy of 13 months. It was 2 days after DD barfed on me on my birthday and the same day I came down with the tummy bug that DD had.

We were still nursing, though not exclusively, including overnight. I'd stopped pumping at work, though.

She STTN from 4 months to 6 months and I thought for sure it'd come back then, but no, it held off 'til almost 13 months.

It was around 5 months and I was EBF around the clock. I was hoping it would at least hold off until I consistently got more than 3 consecutive hours of sleep. Nope. This seems to vary so widely between women.

I initially assumed you meant 8-12 months, because that's normal for me. But I think you mean 8-12 weeks, which sounds normal for you. For each of my three kids, I got it back around 12-14 months, I think, maybe even longer. I nursed each exclusively until 5ish months, then introduced solids. I started getting uninterruped sleep around 5-7 months, if I had to guess, but AF still held off.

26 months when I weaned completely. (was on mini pill and BF only once or twice a day during the last year). Still, I asked my Ob/gyn last week if it was a record. It was sort of freaking me out a bit but I had been assured it was normal.

With DS1, mine came back 6.5 month pp, on Christmas morning (merry Christmas to me!). I EBF for a year.

So far so good with DS2, still EBF...

Mine resumed at 13 months with all three. I was still breastfeeding each time, but AF returned after I added cow's milk to the boys' diet.

Wow, thanks for all the responses. I feel so much more "normal" now. I think I am running like the majority that responded. I am glad to not have it and have enjoyed not having it. Now I just have to figure out a way to get back into shape and look better without decreasing with my milk supply. I do enjoy nursing and the baby loves it but man I have to eat some calories to keep the supply good. That in turn is keeping the weight on. I guess once I stop nursing I can really get into shape.

Thanks so much for all the feedback and for making me feel normal!!!

All were breastfed, but with DS1 I EP'd and I'm sure that made a difference.
