mine died yesterday :crying:

want to order a new one asap b/c i tend to use it quite a bit

i had a Cuisinart model, that worked great. and i did have it for the last 6 years no issues... so maybe it just gave up the ghost

but if you have one you love, please share brand/model

thanks

I also have a Cuisinart, and I noticed it was on sale at Crate and Barrel right now. I think the sale price is $49.xx, which I think is basically what I paid about 4 years ago. Don't know if it's that's a good price these days, but just thought I'd pass it along.

Cooks Country (or Illustrated) did a review on them, but I can't remember which one was the best. I know it was one of the cheaper ones...

I have a Cuisinart one and love it. Amazon has them on sale right now for $30 in a variety of colors. It's just the basic blender - no special attachments.

They also have the one with attachments for $35. http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-CSB-77-Blender-Chopper-Attachments/dp/B0006G3JRO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1326337890&sr=8-2

I got the Kalorik (http://www.amazon.com/Kalorik-MS-18676L-200-Watt-Immersion-Handheld/dp/B001A5W6HY/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1326335689&sr=1-1) blender based on these ratings. It's fine, but by no means heavy duty - the gears are plastic and it doesn't have a ton of power. Things get kind of stuck in the housing as well. It works fine for our minimal use though - mostly pureeing soups and sauces and DH LOVES that you can put in the dishwasher.

When it dies I'm getting a Bamix (http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/bamix-immersion-blender/), and getting rid of my regular blender too.

I don't have one, but am thinking of getting one. I found this review:

Oh good, I got this one too but haven't used it yet.

Slightly OT, but what are those of you who love these things making? Is it mostly soups?

I use it all.the.time for soups. DH steals it and uses it for smoothies too.

This post is timely, as my beloved Kitchen Aid Immersion Blender just died. I was eyeing the Cuisinart.

ohh...now that's a great deal

i was literally just about to purchase a Miallegro through overstock since the reviews seem really good on most sites i search and i know it was one of the top-3 picks from consumer reports

but when spend $65, when i can spend $20

even if the $20 dies in another few years

thanks!

I have the Cuisinart that Costco has for $19 and it's great. It's also the same one that Crate & Barrel has for $49 (I saw it in the C&B catalog last night), so Costco's price is excellent. I think my sister paid $39 for mine.

I have a Bamix immersion blender that I love. I received it as a gift, otherwise I probably would have gone with a Cuisinart. I haven't used my old blender since I got the Bamix. I like that it plugs in to the wall - more power that way.

I had a Breville and that thing sucked. The battery stopped taking a charge very soon, but it wasn't covered under warranty.

Wow, thank you! I've been waiting for this deal on the Cuisinart ever since I missed out on it last time and they sold out.

Also, I want to point out the Contigo bottles. They are AMAZING! Highly recommend them, my kids keep stealing mine, they love the ease of use but especially the shape of the silicone spout.

DH got the silver Cuisinart one from Amazon a few years ago and uses it to make soups and sauces (he makes awesome cilantro chimichurri!)
