View Full Version : PS3 died, dvd inside

We use DHs PS3 to watch movies. I was watching a movie earlier and it shut off out of nowhere. No lights, no power, nothing. I have tried everything I could find online to get it back on.

DH is deployed so it hasn't been played in months. I use it for movies a few times a month. Never had any problems with the system until now. It's the older model so its about 4 years old, maybe 5 I can't remember.

DH wanted the newer model anyway so I'm not that concerned about it dying, it was old anyway, but the DVD inside is from Redbox!

Any DHs on here have any advice for how I can get the DVD out aside from breaking it open which I have no clue how to do!

No DH advice. Would a woman's advice do? :)

same thing happened to me right before christmas. Search on youtube for "How To Remove Disk From A Dead PS3" there is a video for it. Hope it works for you.

Lol yes woman's advice is great! Didn't figure there were many on here that would know what to do, I was clueless!

My second line of advice would be to take it to you nearest GameStop and ask them to do it for you. I had someone show me how to get the much cheaper Xbox hard drive from the older model onto the newer Xbox's, saved me $80.

I may be having to go this route. Nothing is working on it. Still no power at all. I just want my DVD out! Most of the youtube videos are for the newer PS3 so the tricks are not working on mine.
