My facebook friends are saying no.

I have an outfit that's surprisingly similar (scary) to what this doll is wearing - a turquoise and white polka dotted boho type top (nearly identical in cut to the doll's, but with an open keyhole type top and 3/4 sleeves) and a pair of white linen pants that I'd like to wear for a casual dinner night on our upcoming cruise (I'm still nursing so can't do a dress).

I'm trying to minimize shoes and I am already taking these for a few other outfits (a black strapless jumpsuit, a red and black skirt, and a red satin strapless top that can be paired with dark jeans)

If I wear this necklace

can I wear the shoes with the turquoise outfit too?

I also have this skirt -

which could be another outfit too...maybe??

thoughts?

I think red and turquoise are totally fine. I have actual turquoise with reddish veins running through it. If it occurs in nature, it's fine. That necklace would push it into too matchy matchy in my opinion.

ETA: I just checked out the skirt, I think you need something way more casual than that red shoe with that skirt. That shoe is too heavy and "business casual" IMHO. That is a super cute skirt. I may order one!

I say yes to the red shoes with the white pants and turquoise top. I love red shoes and think they go with nearly everything.

Yes, I love it. Although I just realized I responded to a fashionista thread even though I am so NOT. But I love love love red, and think the combo sounds super cute.

Thanks ladies! The tide is turning on FB too, and more people are saying they think it would work. I trust all of you :) I'm usually not bold or daring enough to try anything new, but a cruise is the perfect place to be more bold, as I will probably not see any of the people there again.

I really like the skirt. I got the steely grey-blue one too a few weeks ago when they had an additional 20% off sale stuff. What would you pair with it? It's too pretty for just a bathing suit cover-up IMO. I tried it with a white tank from LE canvas, but (un)fortunately, I have lost enough weight since I bought the top that it is too big and does not balance well with the skirt. Shoe-wise, I am also considering taking a pair of lt cream colored keen mary janes, a pair of brown leather flip flops, and maybe these

in a mustard/butterscotch color.

i agree your FB friends were wrong. i think turquoise and white with red accessories works great, and what you described sounds perfect. :) actually, now that i think of it, i have a turquoise and white dress, and i know i've worn it with a red purse, and probably red sandals.

ETA: omg, i saw that pinterest link...wow, gorgeous! i really like the turquoise, red, and white combo in kitchens..it has a very nice, 1950s retro look!

Red, white and turquoise is a very fresh and classic combination. Love your outfit, especially with the polka dots--go for it! Post pics so we can see!

Thanks for the inspiration...I'll have to try that with my white button down shirt, turquoise skinny jeans and red corset trench and ballet flats!

I have to agree that I'm not loving the shoes with the skirt. And I think the skirt and the top would be too busy, IMO. But I think the shoes would look cute with the top, and I love the necklace (and the skirt).

yeah, definitely not wearing the polka dot top with the aqua skirt. I was wondering if I could bring the skirt with another top, and reuse the necklace and red shoes, but I tried the shoes on with it and agree they definitely do not work.

So I'll take any suggestions for the skirt. I tried the grey one on with my keen maryjanes, which are these in cream

I think the darker sole on the bottom made them work. I had a white tank on, but that definitely did NOT work with those shoes as they are very off-white. I also tried a ribbed grey and navy striped tank that color-wise matches, but I think the patterns were too clashing. So back to the drawing board. I really want to like these skirts bc they are very comfy, long enough to fit my "modest" criteria but still "young and fun," and different from what I usually wear (athleta whatever skort or Old Navy knit fold over skirts), but I am not having much luck making outfits with them.

I think you would be far better off with a simple leather flip flop- something that practically disappears. This is my favorite summer shoe:

I just checked out the Pinterest link and realized that I went to high school with the House of Turquoise girl. My sister is friends with her sister, and I heard that she actually makes her living off of the whole 'everything turquoise' deal. Crazy! Love the color combos for the kitchen though, and I am planning on repainting mine soon...

Everything is super cute! I would go with the colorful top with the white pants but stick to a simple shoe - more seasonal - white espadrilles? metallic flips? The red shoes are adorable but heavy IMHO.
