I just bought 2500 mg of B-12 (Nature's Bounty) at Costco because I have read that it helps with metabolism. Outside of a multi I have never taken B-12, so should I start with a lower dose?

I am also taking the following:
1200 mg of Calcium Citrate (Caltrate) 2 600 mg pills, 1 x 2 per day
6,000 iu of Vitamin D3 (3, 2000 iu caps per day)
Magnesium, 400 mg, 1 x per day
1 tsp. of Cod Liver Oil

I haven't taken it separately in a while, but I also have Folic Acid 800mg (we aren't TTC any longer), and Biotin, 1000mg. I used to take those once a day.

I have been taking Rainbow Light's Just One Iron Free Multi.

Brands and where you buy your stuff would be greatly appreciated.

I regularly take

Vit D
Fish Oil
Probiotics

sometimes I take a multi (Trader Joes prenatal is what is up in my cupboard right now). Sometimes I take an elderberry/echinecea tablet for immune support when someone in the family is sick or I feel something might be coming on. Sometimes I take a cal/mag/zinc tablet. sometimes a B Complex.

I buy a lot of my vitamins at Trader Joes. I have a smaller independent vitamin store around the corner and buy some stuff there too (I buy my Jarrow probiotics there).

I take a multivitamin and 2 Ultra EPA-DHA softgels a day. There was a study done that shows that the EPA-DHA Fish Oil is supposed to help with depression. I do find that I have felt better - more "up" since Ive started taking them.

I take the Barleans Fish Oil: http://www.amazon.com/Barleans-Organic-Oils-EPA-DHA-Softgels/dp/B002VLZ8BC/ref=sr_1_6?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1327523829&sr=1-6

And Costco's MV http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11491625&whse=BC&Ne=5000001+4000000&eCat=BC|589|770|90918&N=4048033%204294965838&Mo=3&No=2&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&hierPath=589*770*90918*&topnav=

Well, I think I need to research more, but I usually take

a Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc that also has some D in it. (Not entirely sure what the Zinc is for. I wanted Calcium and Magnesium, saw this also had D which sounded good. The zinc was just part of it. I just take it, lol)

a B complex that has some amount of Vit C in it.

I believe they are both NatureMade, but I have no idea why I bought that brand.

Calcium/Magnesium combo that has a small amount of beta HCL and L-glutamine

D3

I'm thinking of adding a B complex.

I don't take any vitamins or supplements unless you count dark chocolate as one ;). I just try to eat a reasonably healthy, balanced diet, sleep at least 6.5-7 hours and exercise 2x a week. So far it seems to be working - my blood pressure is 100/60, my cholesterol is in normal range as are all the other indicators. I want to lose a few pounds but to accomplish that I need to cut out more sweets and increase level of physical activity. I don't think vitamins are necessary for healthy people.

ETA: Link to an articles that discuss which foods to add for better brain function. I eat a few of these already (e.g. blueberries, fish) and drink tea/coffee.
