Check out this thermostat. It's sold out right now but I'm signing up for sure.

There was a review of it in the NY Times a few weeks ago. There were some things they didn't like but overall it got high marks. So funny there's a waiting list!

I was wondering what the price was. It would probably take a few years to pay for itself.

I've never priced out thermostats so I didn't think $250 was expensive until I came back and read PPs comments. :rotflmao:

It does look very cool. I turn off our wifi at night so I guess it wouldn't work for us. It's much nicer looking than the one we have though.

The one that came with the house when we built it is this one: http://www.lowes.com/pd_370567-74493-YTH8320ZW1007_4294821951__?productId=3501124&Ns=p_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr|0||p_product_qty_sale s_dollar|1&pl=1&currentURL=%2Fpl_Programmable%2BThermostats_429482 1951__%3FNs%3Dp_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr%7C0%7C%7Cp _product_qty_sales_dollar%7C1&facetInfo=

At $160, $250 for the NEst one doesn't seem too bad. But we have 2 thermostats/2 AC units in our 1 story. One for the front of the house, and one for the back. So that would be a little pricey.

:yeahthat:
Maybe the price will come down in the next year or so or a good cheap copy will come out.

DH was just telling me about this too!
I was wondering how it would work with our wonky house temperatures though- half of our house is always too hot and the other is always too cold.

We got the ecobee thermostat in the fall and really like it.

My dh loves being able to control it with his iPhone and dd loves the weather function that tells her what the temps will be for the next week. The ecobee isnt as neat looking as the nest.....but it is super functional.

Very cool. They were promoting this at a party I attended a few months ago.
I wish they did not do the cheap marketing trick of "we are sold out because we are too cool for school". I cannot stand these mind trick marketing games. Because they are not sold out...

Hmm, interesting. I wonder if it would work for our house though. We have a hybrid system where we can choose to use electric or gas heat.
