anyone have a great crock pot they love? We have the one below and have had it for a little over a year. In the last month it has mysteriously turned itself off 3-4 times so we come home to an uncooked dinner and wasted food. :hopmad:

http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-33967-6-Quart-Programmable/dp/B001AO2PXK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327869081&sr=8-1

I tried it again today since it's the weekend and I can keep an eye on it. It will not even stay on for 5 minutes :32:. So, needless to say, we are in the market for a new one since we use our crockpot a few times a week. I would really like one with a timer since we are often away from 730 am to 5 pm daily.

Any recs are appreciated!

I believe when this question comes up, it's always a neck-in-neck race between the one you have and this one: http://www.amazon.com/Crock-Pot-SCVT650-PS-2-Quart-Programmable-Stainless/dp/B001KVZTFO/ref=zg_bs_289940_3

I have the latter, picked it based on America's Test Kitchen / Cooks Illustrated recommendation. It's WONDERFUL. Same programmable features as the Hamilton Beach. It does cost more, though. Amazon is not the cheapest. I got mine from Bed Bath & Beyond with a 20% coupon for (I think) $75ish.

I wonder if your old one has a warranty - dying after one year is pretty lousy!

So frustrating to have had it only a year and it's breaking!!!

I have 2 crockpots, and really like them both. I switch depending on the size of meal I'm making:

http://www.amazon.com/Rival-SCRC501-SS-5-Quart-Countdown-Stainless/dp/B001MS0YSC/ref=sr_1_39?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1327871125&sr=1-39
I've had this one for 3+ years, and use it at least once a week.

http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-PSC-350-2-Quart-Programmable-Cooker/dp/B001E5CWVU/ref=sr_1_5?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1327871043&sr=1-5
I like this one because it's the only programmable crockpot I've found that's under 5 quarts, and sometimes the smaller size works better.

I've always been happy with the Rival Crock Pot. I had one for about 10 years and just threw it out because someone broke the glass lid over the holidays. I replaced it with the same brand, similar to one PP mentioned. Got it at BBB with a 20% coupon.

thanks for recs! Is the Crock Pot brand owned by Rival? On BBB website its says Rival but the photo shows a crock pot brand just like PP posted. I think I will swing on over to BBB during lunch tomorrow and check them out since I hate paying shipping and don't want to wait for it to arrive.

I have been thinking of also getting a smaller pot and may try the Cuisinart 3.5 qt with the $50 JCP credit we have since I can't think of anything else we "need" from JCP. But I am going to wait until they roll out this new "no sale" ad on the 2nd to see if the price goes down at all.

I have the Rival touch screen one you all linked above (also based on CI recs).

The thing is amazing. I got it in store at BBB with one of their 20% coupons

Yup, that's the one.

I think the JCP credit is kind of a hoax/bust. I've not heard of many people having luck with it. I have one in my inbox and it sounds like more trouble than it's worth... which is amazing since it is FIFTY BUCKS!

Count me in as another rec for the Rival touch screen one. LOVE it! This is my third crock pot in 7 years of marriage, and is BY FAR my favorite!

well we just went out to dinner since DH turned the stove down so what was supposed to be in the crock pot but moved to the stove *still* didn't get cooked. We stopped by BBB and luckily I had an old 20% off coupon so we picked up the Rival touch screen. (at this point DH probably would have bought me a platinum crock pot to shut me up!;) ) So excited to try it!

my MIL has this one and loves it too. I wanted a timer to put it to warm after cooking since we are gone so long each day.

Old crock pot has a one year warranty and since we have had it almost 14 months they won't do anything.

That is a bummer about the JCP credit since if it *is* a bust, they will really lose a lot of their customers over bad customer service. Why even offer it if it won't work? oh well.

Thanks for all the recs! Hoping this one lasts longer than the Hamilton Beach one :D

I had a Rival Smart Pot that I had some trouble with (meals often not done at the end of recipe cooking time) and I didn't like the fact that I couldn't set a specific time (only could pick 4 or 6 hours on high, and 8 or 10 hours on low).

My husband bought me a Kenmore 7 qt. one for Christmas and I really like it so far - has solved both my issues with my last one. I don't think it was too expensive either. Might be worth looking at.

This is the one I have too. I don't remember ever using the 6qt size, but I use the 2qt a few times each week. (On Saturday I spent $50 at the grocery store and made 20 crockpot meals!!! Woot woot! (I was sharing with my brother who is in college and my dad who is home alone since my mom is on vacation.) ) But anyway, my ONLY half-complaint is that it gets very hot - pretty quickly, so I try and make sure I can be around it for the last couple of hours things are cooking. Even though I cook everything on Low, I still sometimes change it to Warm or even turn it off way before the suggested time.
