**Is anyone here on the BBB currently living in Italy??**

I need some help and I have a favor to ask.

I would like to purchase 20 "Italia" Girl Scout patches. These patches
are not available in the United States. I have to order them from
Italy. I have been emailing Scout Shops in Italy but I cannot get
a response.
(Our Junior Girl Scout troop is representing Italy at our annual Girl Scout
Thinking Day in March.)

I was hoping that someone here on the BBB lives in Italy and he/she
could (hopefully) help me out.

Thank you VERY much!!! :)

No but I have a cousin who just moved back from there in December. She's completely fluent. Do you want someone to call or write an email in Italian, or actually go get the patches? PM me if don't get any other responses and you think she can help.

I'm not sure what I want! Do you think the Scout Shop employees
can speak/read English? I was going to try calling tomorrow. I keep
forgetting the time change and when I go to call, it's too late. I've
never made an international call before!! Hopefully, the Scout shop
has an English speaking employee to help me.

I may need your cousin! I'll let you know! Thanks!!

It depends on where the scout shops are in terms of English speaker availability. I would call somewhere such as Florence or Milan, you are more likely to find an English speaker further north in the country.

When they answer and say "Pronto" (their form of "talk to me"), you should say "Buongiorno, parla inglese?". If they have someone available who speaks English they will start speaking or get them for you then.

Best of luck!

I think this website lists the Scout Shops in Italy. Which one should
I try to call?

Let me know! I'm sure she would love to help. Good luck if you try to call tomorrow. It is unfortunately much more difficult to talk to someone over the phone than in person when there's a language barrier.

This one is is Florence (Firenze)- I would try it first:
TOSCANA - La Stella Alpina Italiana
Firenze 50144 - Viale Redi, 65 c/d
tel. e fax 055330200
e-mail: [email protected]
sito web: www.stellaalpina.com

Then Milan-
Milano 20122 - Via Burigozzo, 11
tel. 0258314666 - fax 0258314682
e-mail: [email protected]
sito web: www.kimscout.it

Then I'd try Rome-
Roma 00162 - Via Adalberto, 13/15
tel. 0644231139 - fax 0644230992
e-mail: [email protected]
sito web: www.latendascout.com

Then Torino- since they had the Olympics they might speak english-
Torino 10139 - Via Bardonecchia, 77 int.18
tel. 0113854294 - fax 0113854613
e-mail: [email protected]
sito web: www.scautpiemonte.it

You probably won't have as good luck finding an English speaker in Naples as you would for the above, but a better shot than one of the smaller towns-

CAMPANIA - Nuova Pino Vesuviano
Napoli 80138 - Via Maria Longo, 50
tel. 0814420283 - fax 081449660
e-mail: [email protected]
web: www.nuovapinovesuviano.it

If none of those work, let me know and I'll recommend the next round-

also- some of these shops have email addresses, I'd bcc them all on one message and see if any respond. it would a relatively painless method to try first.

I emailed 6 of the Scout Shops today all in one message. That was
my first step!

I just called the Scout Shops in Florence, Milan, Rome, and Torino.

They had absolutely no idea what I was saying. No English speakers.
