DH and I were talking about this today. When I was pg with DD1 I started having mild contractions in the evening around dinner time and almost every one I know went into labor either in the evening or the middle of the night. I thought I would see what other's experienced.

ETA: D*rn it, I forgot to click the button for a poll! Choices were supposed to be:
1) Midnight to 6am
2) 6am to noon
3) noon to 6pm
4) 6pm to Midnight
5) Planned induction/C-Section
6) Other

My water broke around 4:45 in the afternoon. DH was scheduled to get off of work at 5. He left 12 minutes early, and was actually reprimanded by his boss. (Needless to say, he left the company shortly after DD was born :o)

I agree, I do not think I know anyone who has gone into labor in the morning hours.

Adam was induced, so I was in labor for a day...from one morning to the next.

I went into labor with Leah in the morning, after waking up normally at my usual time.

ETA: so with your new poll choices, Adam is 2&5
Leah is 2

Most animals go into labor at night for safety from predators. I wonder if humans (we are all animals after all) also have this safety mechanism hardwired into us

DD2 = #1. I woke around 1:30a.m. with contractions, took a warm bath, called my mom, arrived at the hospital at 3:30a.m. she was born around 4:15a.m.

With DS1 I went into labor around 4:30 am...he was born just after noon

With DS2 I woke up with contractions around 2:30 am...he was born at half past four in the morning.

DS3 was the only baby who didn't wake me up in the middle of the night. I felt my first contraction with him around 8:30 in the morning and he was born around a quarter to 12.

Well, my labor with DS1 was 34 hours,
If I go with first contractions, that was about 10:30 pm, so in the 6pm to midnight range. Water broke about 27 hours later, at 2:00 am the following day.

DS2 I'll go with 6pm to midnight range. I think it actually started around 5:30 pm, but partly because my OB examined me (37 week appt) and I think that more or less sent me into labor, otherwise would have started a few hours later.

I felt like I was in labor with DS3 for weeks! Officially though, around 1:30-2:00am. I had the same OB deliver all my kids and when I called him this time, I was like, wouldn't it be nice if I could call you at a normal hour!! The "earliest" I had ever called him was about 10:00 pm with DS2, which resulted in a 2:00 am delivery.

#1 ds1- water broke at 3am, contractions began immediately. Labor lasted 20 hours.

#3 ds2- contractions started at 4pm (4 hours after I had my membranes swept). Ds2 was born 15 hours later (labor was only really on the hard side the last 6 hours).

With DS it was 6am in the morning. Got to the hospital at 1pm (way too early but I was excited!) and he was born just before midnight, on his due date!

With DD it was around 11 at night. Things progressed quickly and I barely got to the hospital in time. She was born in a room in the triage at 6:34 am, five days before her due date.

I'm choosing 6 for DD, because while my water broke at 10 in the morning, I was NOT in active labor and ended up having to have pit to get regular contractions going (which is technically augmentation and not induction, but whatever).

I'm choosing 5 for DS, because I did have a scheduled induction, though I went into labor at 31 wks in the afternoon, which would have made him option 3 if we hadn't used medical intervention to stop the labor. :0)

First thing in the morning. I woke up at about 5 or 6AM with contractions. T was born late the next evening. Long labor followed by c-section.

With F, I never went into labor due to the freaky fast and unanticipated out of nowhere onset of preeclampsia. We decided on Friday evening to do a c-section the next morning. He was not quite 35 weeks.

For DS1, 2 and DD my water broke around 7 or 8 pm and they were all born the next morning or early afternoon, with labor starting in earnest in the morning. DS3 was different. My water broke at 3 am and he was born at 9 am. My contractIons really kicked in at 5:30 am.

With Jason, it was around 10 or 11 pm. I had just fallen asleep shortly before, and was exhausted.

With Zach it was around 3 am. Both times I woke up "to pee" and my water broke.

So #1 and #4.

My answers are:
4) 6 pm to midnight for DC1 born a little past 8 am and DC2 born just past midnight.
2) 6 am to noon for DC3 born just before 3 pm.

I found it very weird to be laboring during daytime with DC3. I kept feeling like there were so many other things I needed to do right then. Everyone in the house had woken at 8 am to get ready for church and was having a pretty normal Sunday; labor just seemed to be in the way of an otherwise typical day. After DC3 was born and we were settled in our recovery room, DH soon went out to get dinner; I understood but it just seemed weird. (The BBQ place saw his medical bracelet and gave him an extra rack of ribs with a big congratulations!). The only thing that was nice was our pediatrician came in to the hospital around 8 pm to give DC3 his pediatric exam, and that was sweet, un-hurried and more personal than it would have been the next morning during rounds.

I far preferred the darkness, intimacy, and quiet of laboring and delivering at night.

DD#1 was induced at 3pm and DD#2 was born at 3pm (labor probably started about 10 or 11 am?)

My water broke both times and that was the start of it all. The first time was just after 11:00 a.m., at my office. DS was born the next morning just before 7am, via C/S. With DD, my water broke a month early, in the middle of the night. I think it was around 2:30 a.m., IIRC. She was born via C/S just before 11:00 a.m. I got to labor twice and have two C/S. Oh joy.

After many nights of contractions that wound down just in time for DH to leave for work :( I went into "real" labor around 9pm, delivered about 24 hours later.

I awoke shortly before 5 AM because I was wet, thought my water had broken. Turned out I just had a ton of cervical fluid, but during the monitoring once I arrived at the hospital, I was having regular, though painless contractions and was admitted.

with DS1 timed very mild spaced out contractions from the afternoon... late in the evening they started getting more uncomfortable... he was born the next morning around 10am

DS2 had stronger but very spaced out contractions in the evening. This time I got my DS1 to bed and went to bed myself... woke at about 3am with a strong contraction. He was born around 8am!

I always knew I was different, having my kiddos was more proof. With DS it was 8am to 5pm, on his due date. DD was 8 am to 1pm, the day after she was due. Neither of them has done anything as on-time or well-timed since.
