I am geting an iPad for my birthday. :yay:

I am overwhelmed by cover options. This is MOMMY'S toy, so not something the kids will have regular access to, but I imagine that they might occasionally get to do something with it for a special treat (i.e., home sick, doctor's office waiting room, etc.)

I have looked at the Otterbox cases and the Gumdrop ones, but kind of want something sleeker and not quite so bulky. I am considering this one (no reviews on this color, but good reviews on the other colors):

I'd love your suggestions!

Also, did I mention - :yay: I'm getting an iPad!!

I have this case (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004TU3SUG/ref=oh_o01_s00_i00_details). It's a bit bulky but I love it.

I have the otterbox defender for home and a sleeve for when I take it with me (usually travel). Honestly, I've dropped it a few times and am glad we have the otterbox!

I preferred the otterbox for iPad 1 but the Griffin extreme duty is what I would go with for the iPad2 Its surviving Jack... that says a lot. its bulkier but has protected mine from being pushed off the kitchen table onto tile floor, dropped down 3 steps and having a cup of coffee spilled on it. http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Survivor-Extreme-duty-BLACK-GB02480/dp/B004SPVZKW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328273286&sr=8-1

If you look up the reviews on amazon the Griffin has much better reviews. It's impressed me and that says a lot.

We have the dodo case (http://www.dodocase.com/products/dodocase-for-ipad2). Very sleek and protects decently. Looks like a book cover

I have the Trident Kraken. It definitely adds bulk but I feel a lot more comfortable with it now. I bought my case from amazon. It was a lot cheaper.

Thanks for all the responses!

Does anyone have this one?

I totally get the Otterbox love because I have an Otterbox cover for my phone, but I really don't like the look of the iPad case. Ditto the Griffin ones. I don't want to make a stupid decision simply based on looks, but this is MY toy, not the kids'. I'd also love something that has optional screen coverage so I don't need to buy a separate sleeve for toting it to and from school. I really wish I could find an m-edge one that's just like my Kindle cover - it looks like this:
http://www.amazon.com/M-Edge-Canvas-Trip-Jacket-Kindle/dp/B004M18EHE/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&qid=1328279630&sr=8-19

I love that I can fold over the back and slip it under the elastic for reading.

Keep the suggestions coming!

I have one similar to the first one you posted for my Kindle Fire. Its off limits to ANYONE but me. I like it.

i love my targus (http://www.amazon.com/Targus-Versavu-Degree-Rotating-THZ04503US/dp/B005DEW42U/ref=pd_sim_e_4).

there is one draw back and there is no smart on/off, but i just attached a magnet to it and works fine. even though this was one of the first after market covers when the ipad2 came out; i'd still consider it even with all the choices out now.

I have an Otterbox Defender on DS's iPad, but he's the primary user.

My Dad has this one from Brookstone and loves it:

I love my Maroo case! They have lots of unique designs -

I like that is has the corner bumpers for added drop protection, but is still pretty lightweight.

Another fan of the Switch Easy Canvas. My family liked it so much that my sister ordered one after our Christmas visit.

That's what DH has but after having been dropped a few times two of the internal corners holding iPad in place have broken off (they are made from bamboo) and it does not feel as safe. It was a gift from MIL for DH along with the iPad, and does look sleek, but I would not buy it again if I were in the market for another case, which I am because I don't love it.

Thank you all so much - this is all such helpful information! I am still overwhelmed, but at least I can start to narrow the field. I appreciate it!

I love my switcheasy canvas... however, three of the four corners are cracked, with small chunks missing out of two of the corners. It has never been dropped or miss-handled.

I found many similar stories with a google search. Nicely, it sounds like switcheasy is good to work with and quick to replace the product. I should really contact them!
