Does anyone have recommendations for apps on the LeapPad. Also, any tricks to getting the apps cards at a discount?

I think the apps totally depend on what your LO enjoys and and is ready for developmentally. Right now, $20 app cards are available from Amazon for under $14.50. Lowest they have ever been is $13 there.

Ugh, I bought some last week at $15.58 or something like that. I was worried they'd go back up in price so I jumped on them.

Here are some codes for some freebies. My 5 yr. old daughter enjoys Alphabet Soup but hasn't used the book one yet.

My 4 year old likes a cooking one. I can't remember the name and it won't turn on for me to check(They are sending us a new one). But really, he likes the cartridge games better than any of the apps.

Thanks for the free codes! I just downloaded them to my DS leappad. Where do you find free codes like this?

That is one of the ones my daughter has on her want list. That one and the mermaid story book. I also picked up some of the Leapster Explorer cartridges that someone was selling used. Can't bring myself to pay the $20-$25 they are listed for new, but will buy used ones. You could try searching craigslist for used ones.

I searches Leapster and Leappad at slickdeals.net and found those codes. There was another game they put out earlier last year for the Leapster, but that code wouldn't work for me. It doesn't seem that they put freebies out very often, which is a shame since its a rather expensive toy to begin with and the other games are so expensive! My aunt gave DD1 hers for Christmas and DH is already thinking this thing is a money hog (had to buy more rechargable batteries to use with it as well since it sucks up battery life quickly!).

I really wish that Leapfrog had thought to sync the Tag reader books onto the Leappad. Both girls have Tag pens and a ton of books and it looks like a lot of the same books are offered on the Leappad. I think its silly that they didn't link them in the Leapfrog Connect for those that own both.

Thanks for the free ones. We haven't downloaded any before this, so I will see how DS likes them.
