I think I've narrowed my choices down to:
Nexus S: $0, 2 year term - light, smaller screen
HTC Amaze: $0, 3 year term - heavier, easy to take pics/video
Samsung Galaxy SII: $80, 3 year term - light, big screen

Any reviews or suggestions? TIA!

Thanks for your quick responses! I have a follow up question - why is the Galaxy S2 so much better? I just need it for basic things - email, text, phone, pics/video, occasionally surfing the web/GPS

I agree, the Nexus S2 is the best choice.

Well you can do your driving in an AMC Pacer, a Gremlin or a Lexus form almost the same cost and upkeep - what do you pick?

i just got the razor max. it is built better with kevlar and gorilla glass, has a better camera than the s2, which is important to me, and sick battery life with the 3000 battery. Haven't really played with it yet.

OK - I get it! Just wanted to make sure it was really that much better!

I'm in Canada and I don't think it's available here yet. The battery life is something I'm concerned about with the S2. I don't want to have to charge it before the end of the day (which seems to be the only negative review I've seen).

i just never understood why samsung would downgrade their camera in their flagship phone. dropping their 8mp camera to 5 made no sense, and the camera is real important to me. Otherwise, it is a great phone

If you're going to be locked into a contract for 3 years, I'd get the better technology. I get the whole exponential growth of technology and phones but it astounds me that s2 came out a year ago and it'll be "obsolete" in a few months when the s3 comes out.

I would wait if you can. The Samsung III is rumored to be coming this summer. Of course this is a rumor.

The specs we were given says it is an 8mp camera - is it actually 5mp?

Well, we could get the older phone (Nexus S) for free with a 2 year contract (instead of paying $80 for the S2 with a 3 year contract). Still leaning towards the S2 though.

I can't wait. For a bunch of reasons I need to make my decision today (or tomorrow at the latest).
