We're thinking of making the move to a big boy bed sometime soon. I'm looking for a bed rail that will work with DS's convertible crib (toddler bed) as well as other beds he may sleep in in the future. Based on the reviews I have read, it seems that most standard bed rails don't work on the toddler beds too well. There are two rails that I found that are made specifically for toddler beds, but I don't know of their compatibility with other beds. Anyone have a good recommendation for a rail that can be used on the toddler bed as well as larger beds? TIA!!

Here are links to the two bed rails made specifically for toddler beds:

FWIW I thought we'd need a bed rail for DS when we moved him to his toddler bed and ran into some of the same issues. Then I got the BEST EVER suggestion from my cousin.

Put a pool noodle under the fitted sheet on the open side of the bed. My son, who'd fallen out of bed every night for a week stayed in bed perfectly! It was a quick, cheap solution. The pool noodle can and does move, but generally it is enough to stop the kids from actually falling out of bed.

We purchased this rail for DD's toddler bed:

http://www.amazon.com/KidCo-Convertible-Crib-Rail-Finish/dp/B0013VFZG4/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1328896166&sr=8-7

And then this one when she moved to her full size bed:

We tried the pool noodle trick, and it didn't work for us. The pool noodle didn't fit right under her sheets, and it kept popping out. I know some have had luck with it. We broke down and bought a rail.

I'll second the bedbug recommendation! Folks on this board recommended them to me when I was ready to move DS into a big boy bed, and I'm so glad I purchased them! They work at home, at Gran's, in hotels-- they're great!
