DD was 9 days late and I self induced with castor oil so I could deliver at the birth center. I never thought I would go that late with a pregnancy. This pregnancy I've had In my head that my real due date is 2 weeks past my edd so I'm mentally prepared for going late, but these past few weeks I can't shake the feeling DD2 is going to come early and I'll be unprepared. DH said to me this week I think she'll be early. I'm not getting my hopes up just wondering if anyone else felt this way and their baby came early or it's just last minute nerves?

Every doctor, mid-wife, specialist and nurse I have seen in the last couple of weeks except for one has to told me that DD2 is coming early. I am super paranoid, b/c, like you, I don't feel ready! I am scared I am unprepared in every way.

I think some of that is normal. I think it is our brains way of telling us to get our acts together and get ready, that the time is nigh. However, I also beleive in womens intuition. There can be no one more intimately knowledgeable of your body and your connection to baby than YOU.

I would cover your bases. Get busy now so either you are prepared for her or at a minimum, you can ease your own worries. Then sit back and wait!

I don't know that I think we have an intuition about these things, but I'm happy to hear other people don't feel ready. :)

I also went far overdue with my DS and it has definitely meant that I am less ready right now even though I'm technically full term. I just don't feel any urgency to get things organized. But I do think that your body knows when you are ready (reduced stress hormones etc.) so it's possible getting organized and being ready will help the baby come sooner. Hmm. I should really start getting ready. :)

I knew for sure with ds2 that I would go past my edd by at least a week. So, I didn't start prepping till 39 weeks; painting his room, getting stuff together... He came at almost 42 weeks and everyone was practically offering condolences when I was past my edd. I was perfectly content and at peace with it. Heck, I wanted and needed that extra time to get mentally and emotionally ready!

I was overdue with both DD1 and DS, and figured that any other kids would also be overdue. When I got pregnant with DD2, I had this weird feeling that it was a girl (true) and that she would be early, like preterm early. At my 21 week ultrasound, my midwife misread my cervix measurement on the report and told me I was in preterm labor, and I was freaked out of my mind that my feeling was going to come true. As I said though, a few days later we realized she misread the report and all was actually fine. DD2 was 10 days overdue. Soooo I did have a feeling about labor, but I was totally wrong. :) I guessed right for gender though!

Glad I'm not alone! I have the nessacery items for baby just feel like my house isn't in order, hospital bag isn't packed, etc. It's comforting to know most of you ladies went past your due date! I wouldn't mind going right around my due date, I guess mentally I don't feel prepared.

I had dreams about DD1 coming early, but she came 2 days before my due date. I'm having those same dreams now with DD2 but I'm not putting any stock in them. I don't really put much stock in "intuition" though, even though I know that may put me in the minority on the BBB.

I thought for sure DS3 would be my earliest. DS1 was 2 weeks early and DS2 was 3 weeks early, so I was sure DS3 would be like a month early (my mom had 3 children, each one earlier than the previous). I actually had a lot of fear he would be earlier, like unhealthily early.

I didn't even tell people my actual EDD, which was towards the end of July. I was hoping just to make it to July, and prepared for early July. Well, there I was for my 38 week appt on Jul. 12, with my OB saying "I would have bet you a million dollars this baby would have been born already". I did have DS3 technically "early" 11 days before my EDD, but of the 3 he stayed in the longest, and he only came out when he did because I couldn't stand to be pregnant any more and took a long walk, ate spicy food and had labor-inducing sex the night before he was born (specifically for that purpose). So I guess I had no intuition! If you were late with your LO before, you could be early this time, or vice-versa.

With DD1 I had 3/1/2 days off work. I didn't have any real nesting urges than to make sure that here were sheets on the crib, I had a package or two of diapers, and that I had a nursing bra! I think I had made my bag earlier that week. The day before I had DD I went and run errands and laid on the couch I did go to yoga with DH. We had no visitors so I didn't have to worry about that. I ended up having her 12 days early so I was just thankful I'd had at least 3/1/2 days. I had no idea that I had been having contractions wih DD1 so the news at 37 w 2 d that I was 4/1/2 cm dilated was quite a shock.
The only thing I wished I would have done prior to delivery was gotten he pack n play because DD1 wouldn't sleep anywhere but with me or DH until I got that pnp when she was 4 days old. Co-sleeping was not for us;)

With DD2 I had a week off and it was the perfect amount time. I could run errands that needed to be run over a couple of days and I could spend time with just DD. My sister was staying with us and that was nice. I was all prepared to have DD2 late mainly because I did not want to be induced. I was really surprised that DD2 came early.

No, I am shockingly unintuitive.

Not only am I shockingly unintuitive, but I have super fast labors. The combination of the two invariably raises my stress levels sky high when I hit my 9th month.
