Small story to share...

DDs backpacks were ready to go with all their usual stuff plus their St. Valentine's Day stuff. I saw DD1 fiddling with hers and assumed there was a problem and asked her what was up.

She told me she was just packing something, and held it up to show me. She had cut large hearts out of construction paper, punched holes in the tops, and strung them on a ring she formed out of a pipe cleaner. There were a LOT of hearts and I had seen her cutting them our over the course of the week, several sheets at a time, but didn't think anything of it because she is always working on some craft or another.

I asked her what they were for, and she said "Well, I am going to ask my teacher if instead of playing at recess, I can go around and hand them out to all the other teachers and all the people who work in the school....because not everybody might have a Valentine, Mama."

I have no idea if she will actually be allowed to do that...but I am just so proud she's my kid.
