Shoe Repair Question

Has anyone successfully repaired the heel of a dress shoe? I scraped the leather on the heel of a shoe as I didn't clear a metal grate and the heel got stuck.

Is it salvageable?

Do you have a good shoemaker nearby? They'd be the best person to ask.

I love the shoemaker in our area; he's a really nice guy with reasonable prices and good work.

As for the injury to the shoe, I'm not sure what happened? Did the leather tear off the heel or is it just scraped/scuffed?

Sorry - its kind of torn from the heel but still attached. The heel caught the metal grate and torn/scrunched up the leather so a bit of the heel is exposed.

Was trying to save myself the trouble to getting to the shoe repair place if it is a lost cause.

Is the tear clean or shredded?

If shredded, I'd skip. If the tear is clean, I'd ask the shoemaker.
