At what age/size clothing do you start using adult hangers? We're adding a new baby soon, so I need to get more hangers. I am trying to decide if it makes more sense to get more kid hangers, or to move DS (in about size 8) to adult ones and give the new little guy his hangers.

DS wears a size 8 and I've started using adult sized hangers for his clothes. I also use them for some of DD's clothes (size 6x).

My DS is also a size 8 and the adult hangers work better. I'm switching his closet over to all adult hangers. The clothes fall off the kid hangers too easily, shirts in particular.

I started using adult hangers around size 4. We pass the smaller ones down, and then to a niece!

I switch when it is clear the kid hangers are too small. We had a bunch of mismatched kid hangers from the store. They weren't great, but they were free. The adult hangers are still too big for Dora (who wears size 5-6) most of the time. Then SIL gave us a LOAD of real kid hangers, which is awesome because they work much better than the store hangers.

the kids' jackets though, are all on adult hangers. Too heavy for kid hangers.

For us, size 6-7 for DS1.

When the stuff fits better on the adult hanger. Seems to be around size 8 here.

With my sons, I've had to stop using kid hangers with them and switch to adult when they were 5 1/2 years old. That's when all their shirts were size 7 or 8 and would fall off of kids' hangers.

Okay, great, thanks ladies! I just hadn't even thought about my big boy being so big!
