LOVE the 1st one, don't love the 2nd one (even though I love the color). I guess it would be ok for a party or vacation, but it doesn't look very work-appropriate to me.

Love the first one. I'm hourglass, and would like it, not sure for pear shape.

Don't love the second. I think the material looks weird, and isn't really work appropriate. I've seen dresses with that general shape that I like a lot better.

ETA: Like this one:

yeah, that dress probably won't work for work although i do work in a very fashion forward environment.

is that purple dress you posted on the nordstrom website?

I love that yellow sheath - can you share where it's from??

Yes. I don't know why I think that one is more work appropriate...it just seems to be. Maybe the color? I also like the belting on the purple one better.

:yeahthat: LOVE the yellow one and would totally wear that to work. It seems like a great spring dress! I love the neck detail. Second choice would be the purple. The blue is too short and too "party/clubbing" to wear to work. It's like a blue toga. ;) Might be good for dates, though.

I agree with PPs. I like the yellow and purple ones.

Love that you think that it looks like a toga. That means it would be a really fun party dress :jammin:

I ordered both the yellow and the blue as I want the blue one more for going out. i had to order it rush delivery as i need them for this weekend (nothing like waiting until the last minute, right?) so I'll let you know how they work out!

I like the yellow dress but not the blue one, especially on you. Yellow dress is slimming and has defined waist. Blue is too voluminous and makes you look bigger and wider than you really are.

My thoughts too. My rule of thumb is that if the model looks wide and big, it is a no go for normal sized people. :) Unless they want to look wider than they are...not a look I go for. :)

I am in total denial about the blue dress but I will take your wise advice and return it. It's a fun color but I can find something else in that color.

I really love the cobalt color on you but the cut isn't as flattering as the yellow dress. Keep the yellow and look for another cobalt dress!

I know it's hard to see on yourself sometimes, but when I looked at the shots in the blue dress, I thought you were larger (specifically in the middle) than when I scrolled down to the yellow. In the yellow, I thought, wow! she has a totally different figure than I had thought in the blue.

:yeahthat: You look quite slim in the yellow, and a little pudgy in the blue.

Good thing I returned the blue! ;)

It's funny, I also sent pics to my mom who said "looks great". When i told her that I returned it due to wise Internet advice she said "yeah, it was kind of hard to tell but it did make you look a little bigger". Thanks mom!

I can't believe how wrecked my middle is after the 2nd kid. I've been doing a lot of core training but it doesn't seem to be helping!

The problem with the blue is that if you're short like we are (I'm 5' 3" too), anything that is too drapey can make us like bigger, unless we're very thin. I love the drapey look, but realise I need more structured clothes, as it's easy to be overwhelmed with all the extra fabric.
