I just came back from vacation, where I read 3 1/2 books (joy!!!)

One I thought was excellent and provocative (The Double Bind - Chris Bohjalian) with some nice twists. The other just flat out confused me (The Flame Alphabet - can't remember).

I'm in the mood to discuss them with someone, but I don't know anyone who had read them! Is there a message board like a book club, though completely open ended, where people just discuss books? I can't handle a real book club, either IRL or online, because my reading is so sporadic and I like to choose my own books.

That would be great, wouldn't it?

Just checked out goodreads - interesting site, but it is still mostly reviews rather than discussions. bummer. Any computer savvy people wanting to develop the next new thing???

Romance book readers have 'Smart Bitches Trashy Books', and many sci-fi/fantasy genres have tons of online communities, of course. Those people are intense (and hilarious). For bestsellers it's tough. Sometimes I see interesting theories / posts on the discussion section of the Amazon page for a book.

Am TOTALLY hoping someone pops in with a great site.....

or

http://www.booktalk.org/forum.html

The first one looks a little more user friendly to me. Has a drop down box at the very bottom right (like here) to see the different sub-forums.

I have been looking for something similar with no luck so far. I wish we had a little subforum here for books! :)
